The disciplinary committee has requested for rustication of the duo after an investigation, which has been accepted, sources at the institution said.
According to information, Shailpa Nepali is a student of Integrated Programme in Management and Varun Yadav is enrolled in Post-Graduate Programme in Management.
Meanwhile, a senior official at IIM-I said both the students have the right to appeal against their rustication from the institution.
The institution has informed the local police about the incident.
"The IIM-I administration has informed us in a letter that it has rusticated two students for allegedly consuming some toxic substance on the institute premises," said Kishanganj police station in-charge Raghu Prasad.
However, no case has been registered in this connection.
