New Delhi, March 4: 'Chak de India', a jubilant Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said on India's victory over Australia to win the triangular cricket series.

"It is a glorious victory. I am a happy and proud Indian today. We defeated Australia in their own soil," the Speaker remarked.

Congratulating the Indian cricket team, Chatterjee said, "it was a wonderful and great victory. Chak de India."

He said today's victory and India's triumph in the Under-19 World Cup should encourage youngsters to excel in sports and boost sportsman spirit.

Asked to comment on Australia's arrogant field behaviour, he said, "you have to be charitable to the losers."

The Indian team's victory found its echo in the Lok Sabha with lawmakers cheering the players as Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi came to the House specially to announce the news.

Amidst a debate on the motion of thanks to the President's address, Dasmunsi walked in and announced India's win triggering a round of applause from the members.
