"I received a fax from Chand Mohammad from Britain last, night," Mohali SSP J S Aulakh told reporters in Mohali on Saturday adding that he had sent Chand's plea to the officer inquiring into Fiza's allegations.
37-year old Fiza, the second wife of 43-year old former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan alias Chand, earlier this week filed a police complaint accusing him of "rape, hurting religious sentiments, cheating defamation and criminal intimidation."
There was then no word about the whereabouts of Chand, the son of former chief minister Bhajan Lal, though it was speculated that he has gone abroad.
In December last, he married Anuradha Bali alias Fiza, a former Haryana Assistant Advocate General, after converting to Islam. He was already married and has three children.
On being contacted, the inquiry officer Varinder Paul Singh, who is also Mohali SP (city) said Chand has written that he is in the UK and learnt that Fiza has levelled certain allegations against him.
"However, I am undergoing medical treatment and will be able to join the investigation in April," Chand said in his letter.
"Police can not wait till April...we have established contact with him and asked queries pertaining to Fiza's allegations," Singh said adding that "he (Chand) has been asked to reply to the allegations".
Fiza lashed out at the Mohali police accusing them of not taking action in the case. "Police is working under pressure...it is shameful," she told reporters.
"I have cooperated in the investigations...he (Chand) first said that he is on a pilgrimage to Taj Mahal and Ajmer Sharif, however later he is faxing a letter to police from the UK," she said in Mohali.
"I fail to understand what treatment is he getting from England... he was earlier claiming that he is short of money," she said.
"It is a clear case for the people to see how influential politicians can play around with the dignity of a woman," she said adding that "if he stays again with his first wife Seema who is a Hindu than it is a crime."
Fiza reiterated that Chand should come out in the open and not ignore her. "He has runaway to London...police is not ready to do anything just because he is a person from an influential family," she said.
"Such politicians will bring bad repute to the country," Fiza said adding that if police failed to take action she would be forced to move the high court or the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD-Amritsar) and Shiv Sena have offered to help her.
Chand and Fiza had been asked to appear before the police on Friday to record their statements. After Fiza's deposition, Singh said that police will be forced to prepare an ex-parte report on the basis of material provided by her if Chand does not come out with his side of story.
Fiza alleged that Chand's act of marrying her by converting to Islam was just aimed at committing fraud and having sexual relations with her.
After their marriage, Chand was sacked as deputy chief minister and disowned by his family. However, the marriage soon turned sour when Chand left Fiza's residence on January 28, 2009 following which she allegedly tried to commit suicide, which she later denied.
Fiza had alleged that she came in contact with Chand in 2004 when he was elected MLA for the fourth time in Haryana and claimed that she was forced to marry him as he had pleaded that he would die if she did not do so.

Like father, like the son. Bhajan Lal, yester year's hero in the central cabinet has also played almost similar games during the emergency period when he was in power. Such scoundrels should be punished, especially when he has tried to spoil the image of the muslim community, as he has got converted to the community knowing that that is the only community where poligamy is allowed. Now when the lady he loved is used, he wants to wash his hands as is the case with the sons of most of the politicians. He needs severe punishment.
There must be some provision to verify mental health of people occupying high positions in Government as a person who is mentally sick was leading Haryana as deputy CM just because he was son of a billionaire politician.
For a chap who till recentlyin the pink of health and chose to ge married , one would like to know what kind of "treatment" has Chand gone to UK Is it "the prevention of Arrest" disease ?
The first wife of Chander Mohan is suffering the most. Fiza had political ambition and lust which led to a breakup of a family. She should be punished before she breaks another family.
Fiza is the real culprit behind breaking a happy family. She should be jailed before she breaks some other family out to satisfy her lust. She should not be welcomed back in Hinduism, as there is no place for such a undignified prson.

On one hand Indian women have been working so hard to get economic and legal rights and then we have this woman- Anuradha Bail alias Fiza who 1) starts a relationship with a married man , 2) gets into an agreement with him to change religions so that they can get married, then when he decides he has changed his mind, 3)_charging him with rape and saying " if he stays with his first wife who is a Hindu then it is a crime'. This is what we can expect from legal education it seems - threats, manipulation and intimidation. What a shame! But I have to say, that I am enjoying the plight of Chand Muhammed or whatever his name is. This is like fatal attraction all over again. It is a hard lesson to men who cheat on their wives.

in all this chand- fiza stink, the first lady wife of chander mohan is silently suffering. she must file a case against fiza for tempting chander to become chand. let her become a NCW president and let her be given a ticket to MP post through congress. and close this stink. even reading news paper has become a head ache.

Chand mohamad should be asked to appear before court immediately by the court and case should be talken away from punjab police and given to cbi or to other state police and also protecting a women's dignity should be the first step of any country
How does everyone fleeing the Indian Judicial system get into England with such ease? I know honest, hardworking, Taxpaying Indians who are put thru the wringer at UK Embassies and then denied even a visitors visa. But it seems the minute a conman, terror or murder suspect applies, the UK Embassy welcomes them with open arms. Anyone remember Nadeem of Nadeem Shravan fame? Dawood's daughter also lives in England.
Blaming Fiza for entire episode may serve little. Chand holding post of Dy.C.M. was fully conscious of future implications of his acts. He desrve to be punished more severely for cheating and rape.
Accordint to Sec. 420 of Indian Penal Code, Whoever cheats and thereby dishonestly induces the person deceived any property to any person, or to make, alter or destroy the whole or any part of a valuable security, or anything which is signed or sealed, and which is capable of being converted into a valuable security, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine. What is the cheating done by Mr. Chand here? Again Sec. 375 IPC says that a man is said to commit "rape" if he has sexual intercourse with a woman against her will or without her consent. In this case this is also not there. Therefore what is Fiza complaining about? The Media is unnecessarily hyping the issue just because a politician is involved. Was not the lawyer in Fiza took advantage of the law when it suited her by converting to Islam just for the sake of getting married to a person who is having his spouse living?
She got what she deserved> What more she wants???
Chand was never Chand and Fiza was never Fiza,and their marriage was no marriage.
This is the way politicians treat people.
