Cheema Jodhpur claims pole position in kabaddi

Chandigarh, August 24 Cheema Jodhpur, Barnala claimed the pole position in the 42 kg category of Kabaddi Circle Style on the concluding day of the two days Annual Rural Sports Meet held at Guru Drona Acharya Stadium, Dadu Majra on Sunday.

GGS Sports Club, Dadu Majra secured the second position in the same event. Meanwhile, Chajju Majra, Bathinda claimed the top spot in the 52 kg category of Kabaddi Circle Style and in tow, it was followed by Bariali, Ropar. Dhanori, Channeri secured the first position in the 57 kg category of Kabaddi Circle Style.

Soni Singh Samrala clocked 19:51.32s to emerge as the winner in the 5000 metre athletics event. Harwinder Singh put his shot put at 15.35 metre to bag the top position while Jaswinder Singh, at 5.85 metre, clinched the numero-uno spot in long-jump. Raghbir Singh was the champion in the veteran race. Pradip Chhabra, mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh assured that he would help in the shifting the Stage/Pavilion in Guru Drona Acharya Stadium and announced a grant of Rs. two lakh for this purpose.
