"I am not against Chhath Puja. But what I oppose is that it is used as a means of show of strength," he said.
While hitting out at North Indians, Thackeray did not even spare Hindi and English channels and he barred them from covering his press conference, alleging they were giving a distorted picture about him.
Thackeray alleged that while covering his news, the channels, especially the Hindi ones, were behaving in a partisan manner supporting North Indians in its coverage.
He also criticised them for speculating about his possible arrest. "The police have not taken any action against me, the court has not found me guilty, but these channels are reporting with preconceived notion that I am guilty. This is the reason that I have barred them from covering this press conference," he added.
He denied that he had spearheaded the anti-North Indian agitation to checkmate his cousin Uddhav Thackeray and said such accusations are baseless.

RatingRaj Thackeray should be informed by someone that group or mass participation is not always show of strength. I wonder, what is preventing the Maharashtra Government to arrest Mr Raj Thackeray. If organizations like SIMI can be banned for creating communal disharmony, how can our elected governments allow people like Raj Thackeray to move freely and create a feeling of hatred between the fellow Indians? Irrespective of the religion that we follow, which state we come from, which language we speak, all of us are being sustained by the energy coming from Sun. Each and every organism lives due to the solar energy which it obtains indirectly from food, sunbath etc. Through the scientific method of Chhath, we can obtain the solar energy consciously and directly from Sun in greater proportions, which will then regularize the flow of Prana and help in detoxification of the physical, mental and psychic bodies of the individual. Religion is a matter of belief. Chhath is not related to any religious belief or speculation. The Sun exists. The Sun is the source of energy that sustains us. By sowing the seeds of ethnic hatred and ill-will against north Indians living in Maharashtra in singing the Marathi tune, MNS leader Raj Thackeray is causing immense harm to the integrity and honour of our country. Enough is enough!. since Raj Thackeray is fuelling communiy and ethnic disturbances targetting north-Indians in Maharashtra, the central government should come down heavily on Raj Thackeray by putting him behind bars immediaely to save arson and bloodshed of north-Indians in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra.
Why this goon leader is out side the jail? The Center place the pot on the state government and the state congress government is doing their job of protecting all the citizens under the equal protections under the constitution.
Shame! Such people seed cessasionist ideas in people which later bites the whole country. Each region has its own right to maintain its flavours. But that should not be pungently imposed on the outsiders.What would happen Mr.Thakrey, if Kannadigas started throwing out Tamilians and Marathas from Bangalore? What would happen if Tamilians retaliated? Why is there a statue of Shivaji Maharaj in almost every state? Did people think which state he was before putting up the statue? Try to be Shivaji and please do not try to break the country.
