Beijing As India put on hold bilateral defence exchanges, China on Saturday said that the two countries would act in the spirit of "consultation and unity" to develop military ties, but remain mum on issue of denial of permission to a top Indian General to visit here.

"China has not halted defence exchanges with India and has received no word that India has stopped military exchanges between the two countries," China's defence ministry said in a brief statement circulated to media here.

"China takes seriously developing military ties with India, and we are confident that both sides will stay focused on the broader picture of bilateral ties between our two countries, acting in a spirit of consultation and unity to promote the healthy development of military ties," it said.

India has put on hold its defence exchanges with China after Northern Army Commander Lt Gen B S Jaswal was refused permission to visit Beijing as he commands the "sensitive" Jammu and Kashmir.

New Delhi has said that Beijing's action amounts to questioning the status of Jammu and Kashmir which is unacceptable and the defence exchanges will remain suspended till the matter is resolved.

In retaliation, India has denied permission to three Chinese army officials to visit the country.

The statement, which was the first response from China after the controversy broke out made no reference to strong protests from India, conveyed by the External Affairs Ministry to the Chinese Ambassador in New Delhi Zhang Yan yesterday.

There was no response to queries sent by the Beijing based Indian correspondents to the Chinese Foreign Ministry here nor there were any references to the on going controversy between the two countries.

Chinese Ambassador to India Zhang Yan met Foreign Office officials yesterday during which India reportedly conveyed its strong feelings as well as decision to suspend defence exchanges.

IT%u2019s THE EXCESS KASHMIR APPEASEMENT POLICY BY Mr. NEHRU & HIS DAUGHTER AND CONGRESS IN GENERAL, THAT PUT THE NATION IN SUCH A BLOODY SITUATION AS ALSO IN THE NORTH-EAST. THE RESOURCES FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT IS BEING USED FOR DEFENCE & PACIFICATION IN KASHMIR BUT OF NO USE AS IT BLEEDS DOWN THE DRAIN. THE VICTORIES IN BATTLES UPTO 1972 WAS NOT USED TO SETTLE THE BORDER DISPUTE WITH PAKISTAN, THE RESULT CHINA IS SITTING ON OUR HEAD & EASING OUT IT%u2019S BOTTOM.

coup by china by STELLAR on 29 Aug 2010

from current hot situation prevails b/w china and india it's clearly evident that china is playing a double game.on one hand it talks about strategic partnership but on the other it contradicts it's stand towards india.from past events it's evident china wants to establish it's supremacy in asia which recently boosted when it replace japan from second largest economy.it's supremacy can be maintain by blocking the development of india,it blocked the loan from asia develoment bank this step provide full proof evidence that china intention is not for friendship so it will be necesary for india if on right time it took out the veil under which china is hiding it's real face and show it's secret coup against biggest democratic country.

Rake up Tibet by Somnath Mukhopadhyay on 28 Aug 2010

We need to rake up Tibet. There is no need to recognise Tibet as an integral part of China if China has any problems with J and K or Arunachal Pradesh. Tit for tat is the only way this works.

CHINA by S.chirayath on 28 Aug 2010

Defence minister A.K.Antony says China´s defence ministry has denied to freeze their ties with India. What about Indian defence ministry which has no hand in this game. If Mr.Antony wants to continue limited military exchanges, occasional little exercises and visiting of military Chiefs. Then ,the Indian defence ministry required to be made an assurance from China that such refutation of visiting visa for Indian General and so called stapled visa for Kashmir inhabitants have to be renounced in future. How and under which circumstances Indian defence ministry has been granted permission for China´s Col in Indian military academy to teach?.China´s intention is to suppress India under Kashmir issue thereby supporting to pak, indulging turmoil in Kashmir, Who could distinguish such mind set of China to rule out for ever. India should do anything with China, with the interest of India not the interest and double strategy of China because India is gullible not serious.

GOVT HAS FAILED TO COUNTER THE CHINESE THREATS by J.N.Mahanty on 28 Aug 2010

It is unfortunate that our Govt has let down the Nation by not preparing itself to face the Chinese threats. During the last decades, China has been engaging our Govt to deal with Terrorism sponsored by Pakistan, as a part of Chinese strategy, while China has been focussing on the rapid development at the Chinese side of India's Northern border with military fortification. In contrast India is singing Chinese friendship and doing precious little on our Northern border. So in order to face the Chinese we must, without delay fortify our Northern border from Arunachal to POK with access roads, railways if possible, Army Barracks, Equipment Yards and Workshops, Air Strips, Missiles, etc to challenge the Chinese who can attack us at any time.

CORDIAL RELATIONS BETWEEN INDIA AND CHINA WILL CONTINUE . by RAJAT KUMAR MOHINDRU .JALANDHAR CITY .PUNJAB on 28 Aug 2010

The China is not in a mood to disturb the existing friendly ties with India keeping in view the visa row that has been highlighted . As it seems keeping in view the exchange of trade and commerce , China will keep on its cordial relations with India as indications predict . As it seems that this visa refusal issue will have less impact and effect on the relation ties with China and India . As China is at presenting having much cordial relations with Pakistan as India diplomats are raising there voice that Pakistan should refrain from boosting Terror and Terrorism and try to curb Terror with an Iron Hand .

defense on defence by vaidyanathan k iyer on 28 Aug 2010

We need not go over this subject as long as China understood our sovereignty. It cannot push us into pressure tactics. If they have not understood our Indian stand on Kashmir then we will very much revisit our strata with her

CHINA TO MAINTAIN TIES WITH INDIA ADD DISPUTES by Indianglobal on 28 Aug 2010

It is not comprehensible to India from China´´s statement that China is reluctant to cut off a part of ties and relationship with India simultaneously creating such extra- ordinary bias for example the visa row. Secondly, the ties with India should go on as it once was together with the border disputes of Kashmir? Here China does not want to be cleared that WHAT CHINA WANTS TO CLAIM AGAINST KASHMIR? EITHER CHINA INDIRECTLY SUPPORTS THE SEPARATISTS IN KASHMIR VIA PAK OR CHINA CONCENTRATING TROOPS ON THAT BORDER FOR A DIRECT CONFRONTATION WITH INDIA. ANY WAY SUCH MOMENTUM OF CHINA´S TROOPS ON KASHMIR BORDER AND INTER- VENTION OF INDIAN INTERNAL MATTERS, MUST BE REPORTED TO UNO FOR ITS NECESSARY WARNING ON CHINA OR OTHERWISE INTERVENE BY US/UNO WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE INEVITABLE. China is the (3rd) third country involving in this regard of Indian territory of Kashmir on which India had never been allowed to mediate any country in the world. China must stop this issue.

China- Clever game plan by Vaid S C K on 28 Aug 2010

This is a tactical ploy of China-Head I win and tail you loose. China being permanent member of security council and ally of Pak shall frustrate India to settle Kashmir issue with Pak as it has its own vested interest. Unless India shows strength by improving armoury and economy, difficult to overcome hurdle.
