London Chris Brown has said that he is "confused" about his image in public after his attack on ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

Talking in an interview with MTV, the 20-year-old singer acknowledged that many people would prefer he be behind bars for what he did, but he was optimistic that his fans still "love me and support me".

Chris was convicted to five years probation and community labour after admitting assaulting the ‘Umbrella’ singer earlier this year.

The attack left Rihanna heavily bruised and with a mouthful of blood, according to police.

And since then, he has been trying to rebuild his once squeaky-clean reputation, but is unsure as to how the public will view him now, reports The Mirror.

He said that there are some people that "don't want to see me do anything… they wanna see me kind of, basically in jail."
