Washington, February 29: Democratic front runner Barack Obama has a six-point advantage over Hillary Clinton in Texas and is chipping away at her lead in Ohio, a new poll showed on Friday.

Obama leads Clinton 48 to 42 per cent in Texas, according to the Reuters/C-Span/Houston Chronicle poll of 704 likely Democratic voters in the large southwestern state.

In Ohio, Clinton was ahead of Obama 44 to 42 per cent among 708 Democrats surveyed, making that race too close to call.

Both surveys were conducted February 26-28 by Zogby International and carried a 3.8 per cent margin of error.

Pollster John Zogby said Clinton's lead in the economically depressed mid western state of Ohio had diminished steadily in past weeks and pointed to a sizeable number of still undecided voters which could be a problem for her.

Nine per cent of Ohio Democrats said they had yet to make up their minds, and late deciders were more likely to support Obama, the survey showed.

"Among those who made up their minds 'more than a month ago', Clinton leads 63 per cent to 37 per cent. Obama leads by margins as big among those who made up their minds less than a month ago, a week ago, and within the past few days," Zogby said.

The two states hold primaries Tuesday widely seen as make-or-break for the former first lady, since Illinois senator Obama has won eleven nominating contests in a row.
