New Delhi, January 23: Icy winds blowing from the Himalayas kept the capital's weather chilly for another day on Wednesday, with the minimum temperature remaining five degrees below normal.

A minimum of three degree Celsius was recorded this morning compared to yesterday's 2.6 degrees, MeT Office said.

Snowfall in northern parts of the country has resulted in icy winds blowing towards the north-west plains and this is causing a dip in temperature, the MeT office.

Coldwave conditions have been declared in the capital as the temperature deviation is five degrees below normal, it said.

The minimum temperature for tomorrow is predicted at four degree Celsius, with the Weatherman saying that this condition is likely to continue for at least a day or two.

National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) said that western disturbance is expected to affect the Himalayan region and adjoining plains in another 24 hours and due to this night temperatures are likely to increase during the next two-three days.

The maximum temperature in the capital was recorded at 17 degree Celsius yesterday, which is four notches below normal. Like the minimum, maximum temperature has also registered a dip in the past few days.

The minimum temperature has been dipping in the last few days after it touched 14 degree Celsius on January 17.
