The SCERT has developed a computer aided learning module on Physics and Mathematics. According to the officers at SCERT, the government teachers nominated by the specific board have developed the content of the programme. C-dac, a computer agency, is providing the technical support to the centre for developing the programme.
The ICT tools for physics cover two topics on bimetallic strip and buoyancy. The mathematics programme deals with topics like reflection and derivation of formulas. The programme has been developed as per the syllabus of WBBSE for students of Class VII.
According to the officials of SCERT, of the 10,000 schools in the state at the secondary level about 3600 schools have computers in their possession. These tools can be very effective for generating interest among the students for the subject.
According to Rabindranath De, director, SCERT, CDs containing the programme will be sent to all the district project officers (DPO) involved, so that the CDs can be sent to various schools. “The content has already been developed and posted on the site www.scertwestbengal.org,” De added.
In future, the council intends to organise workshops at various districts to associate more teachers in the programme. Once the programme is circulated to various districts and the response of this is received, the council will go ahead for the development of more such teaching learning module.
