New Delhi, January 7: Congress on Monday dismissed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's charge that certain of its leaders were conspiring to eliminate her.

"I am unable to understand why is she levelling such charges. She has the complete police force of Uttar Pradesh, she has all commandoes", AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh told reporters.

Singh, who is in charge of party affairs in UP, said that the Union Government can "never be part of such conspiracies, especially Congress can never be a participant in such matters".

The AICC General Secretary was reacting to Mayawati's statement alleging that certain Congress leaders were out to eliminate her and were "patronising" expelled BSP MP Atiq Ahmed whom she dubbed as "mafia".

At a press conference here, she also accused the Congress-led coalition of following the erstwhile BJP-led Government's path of "harassing and trying to get her involved in fake cases".

She said she would convene a meeting of her party office bearers and legislators after January 15 "to take a final decision" on the issue of support to the Centre.

bahenji finally realised that supporting Congress in the centre is going to be counter productive for the BSP and her own political dreams. She wanted to break free from the Congress double standard stranglehold and this seems to be her first attempt to wriggle out of the situation. BEST OF LUCK to you BAHENJI.
