New Delhi SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav accused the Government of resorting to ‘dictatorship’ over the issue of Women's Reservation Bill and said the move will prove ‘catastrophic’ for it.

Yadav said the meeting of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with the opponents of the bill failed to yield any result.

"No result came out" was his response when asked what has been the outcome of the meeting of Singh with him, RJD chief Lalu Prasad and JD-U chief Sharad Yadav, the key opponents of the women's bill in its present form.

Asked what has been the result of his talks with Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the floor of the House, Yadav said, "Who is ready to listen. Nobody is willing to listen."

He said if the government agrees to give reservation to Muslim women separately in the bill, his party will support it.

"Whatever be the percentage of reservation. Our issue is simple. Give reservation to Muslim women separately. There is one Muslim MP in Lok Sabha from 12 states. If Muslim men could not enter Lok Sabha, what is the hope that Muslim women will be represented.

"We have demanded that at least give reservation to Muslim women but the government is not listening," Yadav said.

He said the bill is a "conspiracy" to finish off leaders of backward classes who have emerged tall. Yadav claimed that the government has become "haughty and dictator", saying, "Whoever becomes proud is bound to finished. They (the government) will be finished."

If Congress is resorting to dictatorship by Wonderful on 10 Mar 2010

If Congress is resorting to dictatorship, what are its arch-rivals BJP and Left resorting to, Mr. Yadav? Or is it that only those with you are not dictators?

Dictatorship and Women's Bill by M.S.Kamath on 09 Mar 2010

SP joined hands with Kalyan Singh and created an impression that it is opposed to Muslims. Now, it wanted reservation for Musluim women. What is its real stand on Muslims? SP was trying to block the bill physically, when over-whelming majority wanted to pass it. Who is dictating whom?

is not SP, RJD, LJP, BSP casteist and lumpen elements are too barbaric and savage-like in creating disorder and violent scenes in RAJYASABHA. by Ravi on 09 Mar 2010

If Congress is playing dictatorship, is not SP, RJD, LJP, BSP casteist and lumpen elements are too barbaric and savage-like in creating disorder and violent scenes in RAJYASABHA. Those who are disorder and unruly cannot claim shelter under law of land. THESE LUMPEN ELEMENTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN BOOTED OUT OF THE HOUSE ON THE FIRST DAY ITSELF. They should be happy that it happened only on the second day.

ANY TYPE OF RESERVATION OTHER THAN POVERTY OF FAMILY IS A FRAUD by B S GANESH BANGALORE on 09 Mar 2010

In my frank opinion even after 62 years of independence if our politicians continue with any type of reservation other than based on poverty is only a fraud on the nation. Though plemty of wealthy politicians and busnesmen are available in the country, still number of poor people below poverty level is more. This has defeated the very principles of independence and democracy. Hence I am of the firm view for our country any type of reservation without considering poverty of the family is only a fraud on the nation. B S GANESH BANGALORE
