A group of Dalit leaders, led by Amalapuram MP G V Harsha Kumar and including Bapatla MP Panabaka Lakshmi, were learnt to be backing a Dalit organisation, Mala Mahanadu, to launch a separate Andhra (“Jai Andhra”) movement from Thursday, which would support the creation of a separate state of Telangana on the plea that it would help Malas of Andhra (who dominate the coastal region).
As it is, the Congress in Andhra Pradesh looked split into three groups: one group demanding a separate Telangana state; another supporting Jaganmohan Reddy who favours “samayaka (united)” Andhra; and the third which seeks to piggyback on a Dalit organisation to espouse the cause of “Jai Andhra” that was set to be a coastal Andhra affair given the dominance of Malas in that region.
In the fourth category falls Vijayawada MP L Rajagopal who was seeking to emerge as the champion of “samayaka (united) Andhra”, as against Jagan who was believed to have fallen out of the Congress high command’s favour.
Harsha Kumar, a known critic of the late YSR, and Eluru MP K S Rao had a heated exchange of words in Defence Minister A K Antony’s chamber on Tuesday when the Amalapuram MP demanded disciplinary action against Jagan for joining TDP MPs in raising slogans for united Andhra in the Lok Sabha.
On Wednesday, K Sivaji, head of the breakaway Mala Mahanadu addressed a press conference at Harsha Kumar’s official residence in New Delhi and announced that his organisation would start a state-wide agitation from Thursday to form “Jai Andhra”. Among the two SC groups of Malas and Madigas, the latter, dominant in Telangana region, are in a numerical majority in Andhra Pradesh. If Telangana is created as a separate state, Malas would dominate the bifurcated Andhra.
The Congress high command was, however, learnt to be disinclined to intervene, even as the sharply divided state unit fought over the political sweepstakes in Andhra Pradesh, which threatened to further exacerbate the situation and also split the Congress’s Dalit votebank in the state. Congress president Sonia Gandhi was expected to clear the air in her speech at the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) meeting, which was scheduled on Wednesday. The meeting was, however, deferred to Monday.
MPs from Telangana and non-Telangana regions, in the mean time, continued their pressure tactics calling on top leaders with their respective demands. MPs from non-Telangana regions met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding a formal statement from the government that Telangana would not be created without the state Assembly passing a resolution to this effect. “But the PM gave us no such assurance,” MP K S Rao told The Indian Express.
On Monday, when these MPs had called on Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, he was said to have pulled out two sheets of paper — a copy of Home Minister P Chidambaram’s statement on Telangana last Thursday and a copy of the Congress manifesto in Andhra Pradesh Assembly election in 2004. “What is the difference, you tell me. The Home Minister only repeated what the party had already stated,” a visibly upset Mukherjee was learnt to have told those MPs.
Meanwhile, a delegation of MPs from Telangana region also called on Mukherjee who told them that they had no reason to complain as they had got what they wanted, said sources. Mukherjee asked them to exercise restraint as tempers were already running high in Andhra Pradesh.

Why many companies open branches at different places to support heir clients as much as possible for better business . Telangana nothing but hyderabad state formed 700 years back with hyderabad capital. guys never link potti sriramulu to andhra pradesh. he fought for seperate andhra state for andhra people and wanted even madras as capital for andhra people. but andhra state formed without madras. SRC( state reorganisation commitee) was intoduced in 1953 . as per SRC nehru wanted to restructure states as per languages and luingistics. as per SRC only 1956 Telangana and Andhra state formed as andhra pradesh due to telugu dominence. even same year karnataka and kerala was formed same year as per SRC. Now time came to send Lagada pati and bloody andhra politicians to schools for teaching history of Potti sriramulu how andhra state formed then how andhra pradesh formed. Lagadapati stand is clear for united andhra to protect and continue his illegal siness.
The way Congress high command behaved is irresponsible and appalling. WThere is not a single person from A.P. in the Congress high command who is involved in the decision. None of the leaders tapped people in other regins of A.P. It is a shame that Manmohan Sigh, Sonia Gandhi, Chidambaram did what they did. These people have no concern for people in A.P. They are living confortable lives in Delhi darbar and making decisions in irresponsible way that hurt common people in A.P. Meanwhile KCR and his son KTR are spewing hatred. It is applling to see the language used by these people about people of other regions. They are talking like fascist goons.
Telangana people merged to A.P against their wishes in 1956, it was under the rule of Nizams for 700 Years before, Nehru, then commissioned Fazal Ali(for the superate state commission 1954) all are not in the favour of the decision, Merge was done with a List of agreements and they were never paid respect so people started agitation again in 1969, nearly 400 people died, then Andhra leaders made another agreement, but never paid respect to that, telangana people went to Supreme court and supported the agreement and then andhra people started another movement called "Jai Andhra" and black mailed Telangana people, Now we are back with Telangana issue, since 2004, Congress,BJP, CPM and Reginal parites like TDP(Chandra babu), PRP(Chiranjeevi) supported the telangana and they changed the words once the center took decision. this exactly shows how manipulative Andhraites are to give a simple reasong why we need Seperate state "we were never heard in our Assembly" because of Andhra Lobbists
If dalits ,OBC's & minorities vote bank are split, then congress cannot even dream of being in power.Act fast Sonia Maino
Politicians have played very amature game. Millions of common people doesn't bother whether any state is created or dissolved. Because they know pretty well nothing happens to common man differently either way. But politicians must have behaved with more maturity. If they are aginst to bifurcation then why did they keep their mouth shut when activity was in full swing for seperatism. Why no one uttered a single statement either in press or on floor of assembly ? With so much inconveience caused due to regular bandhs in one part or the other life is becoming difficult for ordinary citizens. Is any body realising it ? Is any body thinking of patients who need regular medi care ? How about prices of essential commodities ? They are going thru beacuse of these agaitations . What about the fate of students who have prepared for competitive carrers ? I am sure once the dust setteles down all political parties again fight for the MLA posts . Who will compensate the COMMON MAN ??
with telgana ,many more demands have come .i.e Gorkhaland,Harit Pradesh, and so on.....the politicians now want tiny kingdom of thier own so as to loot the public money as happened in Jharkhand.INDIA will be in oblivion. Populist Monster ,crated by politicians, will soon engulf them

Nehru divided India into 'linguistic' states and now Italian Gandhis are dividing India on caste. Next every state will be divided on religion. Here we go around the Mulberry bush, never ending saga of divisions. Congress is truely back.
Good Job! Keep it up... Congrass folks...you guys must do it.
We have already divided the country and even states. Further division only gives room for more problems. The present problems are created by power greedy politicians who have not bothered about uniform development of all states / cities and are more worried about enjoying power only. More states meand more burden on the exchequer and more taxes and more poverty. Best thing is to find out the lacuna and develop the states or cities to prosper. This is my firm humble opinion. The decision for carving a new state from Andhra Pradesh - Telangana should not have been taken in haste. As it appears, it was decided under pressure from the TRS chief's continuing hunger strike. In democracy, all parties must have been consulted and views of the leaders of the state assembly and Parliament taken to ensure that the same was supported by most of the people. Now, the decision has been back-fired to such an extent that neither it can be implemented nor abandoned easily. It only reflects immaturity of the people taking the final decision. Yet, the good point which emerged afterwards is that the TRS chief has realised the gravity of the existing political situation and has expressed that he would wait for the out come of the next General Elections in 2014. Let all the leaders become wise and should not press the authorities for such a unique decision which does not have a popular mandate.
