Congress announces 25 candidates for LS polls

New Delhi Six Union ministers, including Commerce Minister Kamal Nath, figured in the list of 25 candidates announced by the Congress for the Lok Sabha polls.

The party announced candidates for seats falling in Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland and Chandigarh. Other Union ministers are Jyotiraditya Scindia (Minister of State, Communications), Pawan Kumar Bansal (Minister of State, Finance), Santosh Mohan Dev (Heavy Industries), B K Handique (Minister of State, Chemical and Fertilizer) and Kantilal Bhuria (Minister of State, Agriculture).

Kamal Nath will contest from Chhindwara and Scindia from Guna in Madhya Pradesh. Dev will contest from Silchar, Handique from Jorhat in Assam while Bansal will fight from the union territory of Chandigarh.

Other important candidates include MK Subba from Tezpur and P S Ghatwar from Dibrugarh in Assam, Bhuria from the reserved seat of Ratlam and Ashok Singh from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.

Gwalior had earlier been the constituency of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and late Congress stalwart Madhavrao Scindia.

Of the 25 seats for which candidates were declared, 12 are from Madhya Pradesh, 11 are from Assam and one each from Chandigarh and Nagaland.
