Vidarbha UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and NCP President Sharad Pawar on Friday shared the stage in Vidarbha indicating that despite opposing each other in almost all states, the Congress and the NCP bond will remain strong in Maharashtra.

“We will not let communal poison seep in the soil of Vidarbha. We don’t want communal forces to lead Indian and in that direction we have tied up with the NCP, a secular political party,” Gandhi said while addressing the rally in Gondiya.

Mentioning the names of Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatama Gandhi, she pointed out that the Congress was committed to the development of India.

“Our fight is that of ideology,” Sonia said, adding that the Congress was like an umbrella, sheltering all religions.

Addressing the rally in parched Vidarbha, Gandhi said that the UPA had taken the responsibility of resolving farmer issues in the country and had waivered 71000 crore rupees worth of loans to them.

Interestingly, when Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said that Manmohan Singh would be the Prime Minister of India after elections, Pawar, who is harboring prime ministerial ambitions, maintained a studied silence.

Patel is contesting the Bhandara-Gondia constituency.

Gandhi is scheduled to address three more election rallies for Congress candidates in Chandrapur, Yavatmal and Ramtek parliamentary seats.

Congress protect ion for all religions - biggest lie by Mohinder S. Bains on 10 Apr 2009

If congress was protector of all religions in India over 4000 Sikhs wouldn't have been massacred under its rule in 1984 anti-Sikh riots organized and led by congress leaders like Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar, RKL Bhagat, Shastri, Lallit Makken, and various others, who supplied the rioters with voters lists of Sikh homes and businesses in various parts of Delhi. Sonia approved their nominations in the previous current parliamentary elections, and Jagdish Tytler was appointed a Minister of NRI affairs after the last election in 2004. Though under pressure from the Sikh protests in Delhi and Punjab, Sonia has asked lallit Makken, and Sajjan Kumar to withdraw their nominations in the current elections, but why were they initially nominated. It shows the true colors of the Congress, and who knows what else Sonia promised to both them while asking them to withdraw. If congress was protector of all religions, it would have taken strong action in punishing the culprits of anti-Sikh riots; unfortunately it failed to convict a single person over a period of 25 years. The future generations of Sikhs will never be able to forget and forgive Congress for the diretiest politics played with them in operation Blue Star to consolidate Hindu vote banks to win an election. There was no closure provided to the sad chapter of genocide of Sikhs in modern India, and it will be sadly remembered by the future generations of Sikhs.
