In a written response to 'The Indian Express', Mohtamim Marghoobur Rahman, has said: “There is no question to call it Dar ul Harb. It is Dar ul Amn. So long as Indian Muslims enjoy protection according to Indian Constitution, they are bound to serve their motherland. We are patriotic Muslims and shall ever remain so according to the Indian Constitution...According to Indian Muslims, India is their motherland. They have been prepared and are still being prepared to serve their country in all possible constructive manners.”
The Dharma Raksha Samiti, a group of religious leaders connected with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, had written to Muslim organizations last week wanting them to declare India a friend of Islam and to declare war against India as un-Islamic.
Without referring to this, Rahman said: “Hindus and Muslims are two wheels of a cart; everyone in India enjoys religious freedom. Freedom of expression is the main theme of our Preamble of our Constitution. Secular ideas are the lifeline of our social life. It is wonder that such irrelevant questions are put forward just before the general elections for attaining vested interests”.
He added: “Indian Muslims honour from the core of their heart the Indian Constitution and believe in it heart
and soul.”
On February 25 last year, in a fatwa in Deoband — the first such to be issued by any Islamic organization in the
world — the Dar ul Uloom declared terrorism un-Islamic.

Would you judge the struggle for India’s independence by Hindu stalwarts like Gandhi by the attitudes of Hindu Maha Sabah and RSS leaders like Savarakar. Did you go through the list of Independence day awards of 2009? You may find at least 11 Muslim men from the defence services? Our consitution states 'treat all equally and based upon merit then why couldn't Rahman not say that muslims in India should be treated like any other citizens of India? In a rare public comment, the Mohtamim or chief of the Dar-ul-Uloom, Deoband, has hit hard the nail on the middle of the heads of those who suspect the loyalty of Indian Muslims to their mother-land. I have been living and earning overseas for more than two decades in a Muslim country, one thing they exploit my services and deny me any rights to citizenship( why citizenship, not even permanent resident status), another thing I am least interested in obtaining one even if they give me, simply because I love my mother land India and I want to return my roots, there is no other nation but in India I get the honour and self-respect that have been denied in other countries, my forefathers were Hindus too, simply because I have come to follow a different faith, it does not mean that I have lost my rightful share to my mother land, please bear in mind that an Indian Muslim is both and Indian and a Muslim, there is a desperate attempt to deny this duality and has miserably failed.

Dear, the problem is in 1947 majority of Indian muslims (most of them who remained in India after independence also..) supported the demand of a separate home land, an Islamic one for muslims. They wanted supreme court order giving alimony to a poor muslim woman to be annuled which Rajiv obliged. They mostly support article 370, separate status for Kashmir due to muslim majority. Want seperate civil law..And, they are more concerned about muslims rights in Palestine, Chechnia than right of their hindu brothern in Kashmir.. That is why your comment makes no sense! Nothing convincing..basically people have no trust in the second biggest community in India. Nobody questions teh patriotism of Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains or Christians here.

But the tragedy is that the right wing Hindu parties are not alone in doing this vote bank politics. See the case where the Govt has come up with ideas of elevating Madrassa education equivalent to CBSE and its decision to give pension to madrassa teachers. Here too the objective is surely to attain votes. It would be in the interest of the nation and its people, if the Deoband ridicules the Govt for such actions and that too just before elections. If the Govt had sincerity, then should have done these steps in the first few years of its assuming power.

It is wrong on the part of popular media that they give preference to law-breaking news over the nationality attitude opinions.

Difficult to believe especially when the supreme court decisions are overturned by the legislature just because some of the muslim groups object to the court rulings as interfering with the provisions of the muslim personal law. It is an intelligent way of having the cake and eating it too.
We must really welcome this matured move from deoband chief. Jokers like VHP, and their motley crowd are fast realizing that muslim community in india - majority of them are showing a welcome and matured reaction to the recent spate of terrorist attacks. Muslims as anti national is the only currency that keeps these jokers afloat. Instead of trying to unite hindus in the name of anti islam it is time they spend their effort in reforming the society - provide better education to poor sections of indians, fight for economic prosperity of the downtrodden - but i am not sure the leadership of these motley crowd is upto that. We need real hindu reformists to take forward the movement. Muslims are consistently performing in all the fields - aziz premji, AR Rahman, Baroda brothers(irfan,yousuf). We indians must start focussing on these achievements and talk about them more. It is not to say that muslims dont have problems but still let the light flow in.

What is the condition of Human Rights in Islamic countries, leave about people of other faith even for Muslims. Women have no rights whatsoever. If Deoband agrees that India is "Dar Ul Aman", why they don't write it down? Indian Constitution is not written in stone. Its will of the people, and ammended according to peoples wishes.
