Rammu alias Ramadhar Gond, 15, is undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Katni.
The resident of Karondi village alleged in a written complaint that two villagers took him to the Barhi Police Station on February 3, accusing him of stealing Rs 6,000. At the police station, head constable Raju Ahirwar allegedly used third degree method when the boy maintained that he was innocent.
Additional SP Amit Sanghi said Ahirwar had been removed from duty and a sub-divisional officer asked to file a report by Saturday.
The boy, a Class VIII student, made the allegation before Katni Collector A K Singh, who was hearing public grievances at the collectorate on Thursday. Singh told The Indian Express the boy showed him a scar above his private parts and complained that he was beaten up at the police station.
The victim had first gone to the SC/ST police station but apparently failed to get any case registered against the cop or Sukhlal Kachhi and Ranjit Kachhi, the two villagers who accused him.
Singh said he got the boy admitted to the hospital and ordered an inquiry.
