Ambala, January 5 The sincere efforts put forward by a vigilant police force has failed the kidnappers to spread their tentacles in Ambala district and their repeated attempts to kidnap residents fell flat after they were nabbed by the police.

The latest achievement of the Ambala Police in solving abduction cases has been the rescue operation of one Naraingarh-based businessman Ashok Kumar who was kidnapped on December 31 while he was on his way to his sheller, a few kilometres away from Ambala. The kidnappers had made a demand of Rs 1 crore as ransom.

Following a complaint made by the son of the businessman, the police immediately formed various rescue teams and they were sent to various suspected hideouts of the kidnappers.

While interacting with the mediapersons, the Ambala Range IG, K K Sindhu, said that Ashok was rescued from three kidnappers from a field in Rahra village in Karnal district on Friday. He said the all the three accused were arrested in this connection.

Ashok told mediapersons that he was kept captive with hands and legs tied and the kidnappers did not allow him to move. He said the kidnappers kept on shifting him from one place to another till they were traced and rescued by the police. According to Ashok, during his captivity the abductors made ransom demands on telephone and threatened his family members.

The police said that three accomplices of the kidnappers were yet to be nabbed and teams have been formed to arrest them soon.  The IG said the police carried out the entire operation secretly because the family members of the victim did not want to make the incident public. He lauded the efforts of SP Ambala, Karnal, Kurukshetra and UP Police in solving the case with mutual coordination.
