Toronto, July 20: Corporates investing in the Indian film industry may be in vogue but for Amitabh Bachchan it's a concept Bollywood didn't take too seriously when he introduced it over a decade ago.

Bachchan, in Toronto for the opening act of his Unforgettable Tour, said he was also happy to see Indian companies like Reliance ADA making inroads in Hollywood.

"I would like to modestly state that I initiated the whole business of corporatization in India's film industry way back in 1995 and it was something that was not very well received, it was laughed at," Bachchan said in an interview.

"But now, there are so many corporates and that's the whole way the industry is beginning to function."

Last month, Reliance ADA, one of the biggest names in Indian business, was said to be closing in on an up to $600 million deal to finance Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks SKG.

In May, the company, controlled by billionaire Anil Ambani, had signed deals with eight Hollywood production houses.

Bachchan said Hollywood continues to hold certain advantages over the Indian film industry, armed as it is with a better distribution system and technology.

But with even American corporates making a beeline for India, things could soon change.

"There are huge corporates, every possible large entity and corporate is now in India, whether it's Warner or Columbia or Walt Disney or Sony or 20th Century Fox, they all have an intention to make movies, to produce movies, together. We got them there," said the 65-year-old actor, dressed in sunglasses, designer jeans and a black motorcycle jacket.

Bachchan was anxious to finish the interview to start rehearsing for his show, a three-hour singing and dancing extravaganza planned in 11 cities across North America, Europe and the Caribbean between July 18 and August 29.

And he admitted to feeling nervous.

"It's always scary to get up on stage, to perform live, to play to an audience, it's a scary thought," Bachchan said.

"I'd rather be in front of a camera, where I have my lines and I have an opportunity to make mistakes and do retakes, and not be under the constant glare of thousands of people watching."

The Unforgettable Tour is billed as the biggest live Bollywood performance outside the Indian subcontinent, also featuring Bachchan's son Abhishek and his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai along with a host of other superstars.

Big B Always things ahead of his Time: by Harsha G on 25 Jul 2008

My Long Cherished Dream of seeing ‘Amitabh Bachchan’ came true in Toronto. He brought back my old memories of seeing him on Big Screen in 1970’s by singing and dancing hit numbers from DON, DEEWAR, Yaraana, Kalia, Silsila, Amar Akbar Anthony etc. which are all my favorites, electrifying the entire Stadium and enthralling 10,000 plus audiences, who all were humming to the tunes. My special thanks to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and the entire team for making this event ‘The most Spectacular Live Show I have ever seen in USA/Canada’. I was dying to hear Amitabh’s voice. His unforgettable dialogues with his ‘Unforgettable Voice’ from movies like Deewar, Kabhie Kabhie etc. were a blessing in disguise. Last but not least, he also entertained young audience with his new movie hits. Many hearty thanks to Amitabh Bachchan for organizing shows of this magnitude all over the world. Also my hearty Congratulations to the entire team for making the premier show a Grand Success. May GOD give 'First Family' of Bollywood, a long long long long long long long healthy, active and cherished life. Good Day Sir!
