Counting of votes begins in Tripura

Agartala, March 7: Counting of votes for the 60-member Tripura assembly began on Friday amidst tight security.

The counting, being held at 19 centres in 17 sub-divisions of four districts of the state, is likely to be completed by noon.

Result would be officially announced in the afternoon.

Over 91 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the polling in the state held on February 23.

All police stations and the BSF were alerted to check violence and infiltration of criminals or insurgents from across the border, police said.
