Ranchi A Jamshedpur court has sent a notice asking the Maharashtra Police to attach the properties of Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray. The court was acting on a petition filed by local lawyer Sudhir Kumar Pappu. On February 14, Governor Syed Sibtey Razi had given sanction to prosecute Thackeray in a case filed by Hamid Raza Khan, another Jamshedpur lawyer.

The two cases where filed in March 2007 after Thackeray addressed a rally in Mumbai asking North Indians to honour Marathis. After the statement was telecast by TV channels, Pappu sought to lodge an FIR against the MNS chief at the Sonari police station.

When the police station refused to accept the case, Pappu moved the Jamshedpur's court, which took cognizance under various sections, including non-bailable 153 A (causing animosity between groups), of the IPC and issued a summons to Thackeray.

But Thackeray moved the Jharkhand High Court, which however refused to give any relief. Subsequently, the Jamshedpur court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the MNS chief last December. Thackeray then moved the Supreme Court, which provided relief to him and issued notices on the petitioners asking them to file counter affidavits.

But arguing his case on Tuesday, Pappu told the court that his case was not listed in Thackeray's petition in the apex court. On this the court issued the notice directing the Mumbai Police to make Thackeray appear before it or paste the notice attaching the property on Thackeray's house.

Kumar, I am Sukumar - know the diff by Sukumar Pradhan on 26 Jun 2009

This Kumar is stupid beyond comparison. As if there are not real anti-national elements around. The present plight of Mumbai (downgraded as it is) is by the blessings of Congress, hand in hand with the anti-national elements. That is what we need to tackle first. You seem to be perplexed and poisoned with popular ivy, am I right, you ungrateful bas....?

Bihari court is crazy as usual by Sukumar Pradhan on 26 Jun 2009

Mumbai was created by Maharashtrians, or you learned differently in Bihar? We showed sympathy to the poor bhaiyas from time to time in the past to make money to support their starving families back home, ignoring the Arab

God bless Indian judiciary by moh on 18 Feb 2009

This terrorist creature is out to prevent others from celebrating their festivals, others from writing exams, others democratic rights. If he has guts, let him create another Mumbai without the help of Indians belonging to other states, without resources coming from other states.

Court orders police to attach Raj's properties by Shirish on 18 Feb 2009

Great news. Very watchful courts and watchful lawyers of Jamshedpur to uphold Indian constitution and help preserve harmony amongst the groups. I am sure they must have acted similarly when Biharis, and UPites were murdered in Punjab, Assam and other places as against what happened to them in Maharashtra. Will the lawyers tell all what is the result of action, if any, taken by them then?

The gain is ours. by Hemangi Pachpaole on 18 Feb 2009

Shirish, what is your native village? If it is xxxx, then xxxx has surely been robbed of a village idiot, and the dubious gain is ours.

Moderation please. by Sanjoy Gupta on 18 Feb 2009

Does the court want to turn Raj Thackeray into a Maoist or a Naxalite ? Excess of anything on any side is bad.
