Karachi, March 8: Cricket Australia has virtually decided not to tour Pakistan after getting a briefing from their High Commission in Islamabad, but will not announce a decision until next week.

Well informed sources said that although the PCB is still making efforts through the government to salvage the tour, the Australian High Commissioner in Pakistan Zorica McCarthy had advised the Aussies against touring the country because of the prevailing security situation.

"Cricket Australia and Australian Cricketers Association have virtually decided not to undertake the tour after the briefing they got from the High Commissioner and independent external security advisors. But they will announce this next week," a source said.

He said the Australians wanted the Pakistan Cricket Board to consider shifting the series to neutral venues in a bid to avoid a total cancellation.

But PCB insisted it will not play at neutral venues which it terms as a dangerous option beneficial neither to both the boards or cricket in general.

safety first, play later by Ashamed to be Pakistani on 10 Mar 2008

60 suicide bombings in 2007, over 500 killed this year in terror incidents in Pakistan, who will want to tour such unsafe country which is fast turning out to be another Iraq or Algeria?

Pak tour by M.Sankar on 09 Mar 2008

Really not surprising. Aussies know that Pak crowd is similar to Indians. And will get what they gave to India, in Pak itself. Cannot bear it. Cowards. They want to play in IPL India to make money. Have no national spirit or respect to Game.

Ozzies are scared of the subcontinent teams... by Hemant on 09 Mar 2008

I wouldn't explicitly characterize the Ozzies as practising apartheid. But I will most definitely say that they are bullies in their back yard. India and Pakistan may be rivals but what happens to cricketers belonging to either country affects the other. If Ozzies mess with the Indians the cousins across the border may not say anything but they notice it. My aspersion is simple if the Ozzies can mess with India what is there to say they won't mess with Pakistan? The Ozzies are afraid that they will get paid in the same coin and they will loose again... if India kicked Ozzie a$$ it is the sacred duty of Pakistan to do the same... if you catch my drift. The Ozzies can take only this much punishment right now... if they loose any further, India automatically catches up to them in the ICC world ranking!! So the Ozzies are being a little political here, they are using excuses to avoid touring Pakistan because they know they will loose pathetically.

Cricket Australia by Aseem Sharma on 08 Mar 2008

I think the present Australian team and their management have a very aparthied sort of veiw for the Asian Cricket Playing Countries. We saw what happened when the Team india was there, now they r doing same kind of thing by calling off their tour to Pakistan, subsequently they'll do this in the case of Sri Lanka in future. They just want to play with New Zealand and England it seems, and win. They are scared of Asians Tigers: whether they r from India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka.
