New Delhi BJP on Tuesday said that cricketing ties with Pakistan were ‘welcome’ but seems impractical in these ‘extraordinary situations’.

"We have always supported cricket for that matter any sports with the neighbouring countries including Pakistan. But cricketing relations with Pakistan seems impractical given the extraordinary situation," party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters in New Delhi on Tuesday.

"We are in favour of normalising our cricketing ties but it is not possible with the current impasse," he added.

"Pakistan should 'walk the talk' in eliminating terror modules and need to ensure that its soil will not be used to attack India before any sporting tie resumes," Javadekar said.

Indian Government had snapped cricketing ties with Pakistan in the wake of the Mumbai terror attack.

The ICC on Tuesday virtually raised questions on Pakistan's status as a joint host of the 2011 World Cup asking its organisers to consider shifting venues to another country, saying the situation in Pakistan was a ‘consideration’ before a decision can be taken.
