Chandigarh, February 20 The Cyber Crime Investigations Cell of the Chandigarh Police’s Crime Branch arrested one Jatinder Singh Marok, who works as a process executive with the IDS Infotech Limited in Phase VIII, Mohali, on Wednesday on the charges of uploading an obscene profile of a girl on the networking website, Orkut.

With the arrest, the cell claims to have cracked a first-of-its-kind cyber crime case. The operation was carried out by the cell under the supervision of S S Randhawa, SP (Crime). Singh had allegedly uploaded the profile of a colleague at the IDS and given out her telephone numbers and obscene details regarding her. Singh is a native of Ganga Nagar and was living in a rented accommodation in the city.

The cell had received a complaint from the girl after which they started investigations. Officers got in touch with the Google, which hosts the networking site, in the US and got details regarding the service providers, after which they found out that Singh uploaded the profile from a cyber café here on December 28, 2007.
