Secretary, Tourism, Manisha Nanda today asked for a complete report on the project from the officials of her department. “I have asked the Director, Tourism, to give me a detailed report on the trees, which are reportedly embedded in the concrete retaining walls at the project site,” said Nanda.
After an inquiry into the incident, the Tourism Department would decide on a course of action against Jagson International Limited Company.
When contacted, Forest Minister J.P. Nadda said he would ask for a report about the violations in the project.
As per sanctions of the Ministry of Environment, Jagson has been given permission to cut 30 trees. Apart from the nearly dozen trees which have been encircled in the retaining wall, some have been buried partially under the debris of the construction site, while roots of some have been exposed.
Such environmental violations are visible at the project site near Titla Hotel, Jakhu. The company is constructing a restaurant and some residential structures as part of the ropeway project at this site.
