London Oscar-winning film maker Danny Boyle has reportedly ended negotiations with the child stars of his blockbuster 'Slumdog Millionaire' after their families demanded more cash from their trust fund.

Boyle was recently in India for his future projects and to meet with organisers of his 'Jai Ho' Trust, a fund to support child stars Azharuddin Ismail and Rubina Ali, Contactmusic reported.

The director has been reportedly asked to provide a car for Azharuddin's relatives, while Rubina's family wants a further USD 48,000 in addition to the USD 80,000 they received for an apartment.

But Boyle is fed up with the requests for more money and has left the country, according to a spokesperson for the charity.

"He is tired, really tired. The demands are now skyrocketing. Danny is tired, Danny is frustrated at these demands and has left (India) for England. He is very, very upset," a representative for Boyle told Scotland's Daily Record newspaper.

Wake up India by Abdul Rasheed on 06 Nov 2009

These children and their families dipicting typical Indian character, GREED. These kids were happy when they were languishing in their slums like millions other under inhumane conditions. Mr Boyle came to India and found this real life Mumbai as a money making subject. This is just contrary to what so called Bollywood (better be called Mollywood if one has to make a genuine copy of Hollywood) shows of Mumbai, glamour and wealthy Indians living in the West. Wake up India, its morning now. You can make fool your fellow countymen but not rest of the world.

Slumdog child stars by Sanjjana on 05 Nov 2009

Where is the National Commission for Child Rights and National Commission for Women? Child Stars=Child Labour, why is the director and other adult stars not punished ot encourage child labour? Or is it that NCPR

Getting attentionn since minority by Indian on 05 Nov 2009

Why should danny give so much money to them? After all they played a small part in the movie

Disgusting by Aditya on 05 Nov 2009

Great. So Danny Boyle comes to India, makes a packet of cash off of the back of what is basically an exploitation film (look up the genre), replete with stereotypes, and BS, and images that the west wants to see of India. And now he is "tired" of the "tiresome" demands of these stupid children and their parents. How much money did Fox Searchlight studios make off this movie? Ok. The budget for the film was 15.1 million USD. The movie grossed 377.4 million USD. That means, a profit of 362.3 MILLION US DOLLARS. And 40,000 dollars is a "tiresome" and "greedy" demand? Shame on you Fox Searchlight. And shame on you, Danny Boyle. Just shows that the British still come to India for only one purpose: loot, pillage, and exploitation.

India should take responsibility by Raj Thackrey on 05 Nov 2009

It is the responsibility of the government of india to take care of its citizents living in slums and not Danny boyle. India is like an irresponsible parent, it only produces people and send them abroad to beg money to the west and bring it back to india.

exploitation by yohan on 05 Nov 2009

slum dog millionaire film makers exploited the children from slums by not giving the normal rates prevailing in bollywood, as they are indians and from slums. had they been paid the same amount as a child star gets in bollywood or in india, things would have ended there. it seems the children were under paid and this they also are clear. hence they came out with jai ho trust, in the form of charity. explitation everywhere.

So what's new about demands for more money? by arun lal on 05 Nov 2009

Why should Danny Boyle be spared of the pressures that the rest of face every day from our near and distant relatives? Money for engagements, weddings, cars, travel, school and college fees...The list is endless and we have become a nation of beggars.

slumdog by ghosh on 05 Nov 2009

danny boyle is frsutrated because the child stars asked for 4800USD!!! tch tch. danny. you should try getting a oscar award with 48k next time. I am sure you will not be frustrated to pay millions of pounds to brad pitt!! just because it is a miserable indian you exploited you feel frustrated...you guys will never change. so why should we?

This is atrocious by Mahesh on 05 Nov 2009

Azharuddin Ismail and Rubina Ali's family should not forget what were they before the film and why do they need a car? 48000 * 48 = 23,04,000 rupees... Too much buddy. Why is this foundation only supporting these 2 children alone? for they have acted in film? This is too much.Instead they can give quality education to all slum children with 28 lakhs.

go as per the contract by Kedar on 05 Nov 2009

Why should these 2 kids be given any thing more than what was in the contract for the film. If the contract said they will act for cheap and the relatives signed it...now they have no right to ask for more...I would say that the foundation should support all poor kids and not these 2 only and also the 80000 should be demanded back.

why are you surprised? by Ajay on 05 Nov 2009

Slumdog... the name says it all. It is what it is. So, Just ignore. don't worry, be happy.

Danny tired with Slumdog children by guest on 05 Nov 2009

Yes, Danny will definitely be tired cause these Indians will never change. They are so greedy. The more you give, more will be their demands. These low grade people will never change. The road side shantys are their best homes. The live there happily. Even if the government allots them houses, they will sell it to rich people and make money and live again the same old shantys. These people do not need sympathy. So its better to leave them where they are.

@Guest by Communiket on 05 Nov 2009

Hi Guest,You are making a comment on billion people for a news regarding high demands of some lusty parents of a new child star.Let me be very clear, you guys are a bankrupt lot and our TATA has owned up your Landrovers and the lot. So think before blurping things like 'These people do not need sympathy. So its better to leave them where they are. 'Please update your general knowledge before putting such ignorant remarks.

danny and slum dogs by yohan on 05 Nov 2009

consider them as two actors and complete the deal as per hollywood child artists package. dont consider them still as 'slum dogs'. no need to pursue a trust for them once the deal is completed as two hollywood stars.

Why the trust for 2 children by Mahesh on 05 Nov 2009

Why they are having a trust for 2 children? this is wrong...why can't the trust give education to all the children in the slums? Yes The more you give, more will be their demands.Insted there would be no trust at all..

The film benefited everyone.. by Rob on 13 Nov 2009

The film was a great success and I presume Danny paid all their stars according to the contracts, deals are made and if people are happy at the start then they shouldn't expect more just because the film was a huge success - would they have given money back if it was a flop?? I don't think so! I think Danny setting up the trust is a nice gesture and I wish them all the best success. They have already had the chance to travel and see much more than they ever would, just think what they can tell their children once they're grown up, where ever they are living, it's been a chance of a lifetime, they should just make the most of it and enjoy it while it lasts.
