Washington Sasha and Malia Obama "are adapting remarkably" to life in the White House, according to their father – who added, "They do seem to be having fun."

In an interview broadcast on Sunday on CBS' "60 Minutes", President Barack Obama was asked whether his daughters, 7-year-old Sasha and 10-year-old Malia, were enjoying their new home.

"They are adapting remarkably, in ways that I just would not have expected," Obama said.

"What's interesting is actually how unimpressed they are with it," the president added, laughing. "I mean they – they're going to school. They are unchanged. They're the same sweet, engaging, happy, unpretentious kids that they were. ... They do seem to be having fun."

Obama said his wife, Michelle, "is thriving as well," pointing out the vegetable garden she started Friday on the White House grounds.

But he admitted that he has gotten lost in the massive White House complex – “repeatedly”.
