David Miliband

Islamabad British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, who arrived in the Pakistani capital on Friday for a brief visit, will meet the country's top leadership, with an aim to defuse tensions with India over the Mumbai attacks and to push the nations to work together to probe the incident.

Shortly after his arrival, Miliband met Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi for talks on the regional security situation and other issues.

Miliband would also meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani during his stay in Pakistan and exchange views with them on various issues, including the need for a joint investigation of the Mumbai attacks and ways to defuse tensions.

The war against terror and the situation in Afghanistan is also expected to figure in Miliband's parleys with the Pakistani leaders.

Miliband travelled to Pakistan after a visit to India, where he said Britain did not believe that Pakistani state agencies were linked to the Mumbai attacks. He also called for the prosecution of any Pakistani suspects involved in the attack within the country.

His remarks linking the Kashmir issue to terrorism did not go down well with the Indian establishment, which said it does not need "unsolicited advice" on its internal issues.

Miliband had said that the resolution of the longstanding issue between India and Pakistan would help deny extremists in the region "one of their main calls to arms".

UK and terrorism in India by Durgesh on 16 Jan 2009

I am in full agreement with Abdul that we can not expect any help in repply to counter terorism from western countries in general and US and UK in particular. For them reson for terorism in India is kashmir but terorist attacks in london and new york are part of global terorism. It would realy be in our great interest if we realise utmostly the fact that these countries are not ready to understand our pain. We have to prepare ourself to defeat this meanace from our land. The governement has to show the firmness that whether so called "international community" support us or not we will hit back hard to the terrorists and their supporters if they continue to bleed us.

Two things to do by Abdul on 16 Jan 2009

Right now one thing is clear.Neither US nor UK are with us.I would suggest forget Mumbai for now and first concentrate and improve our Billastic Missile defence(the most important). So that we can counter almost all nuclear threat comming from pakisthan And its because of Nuclear threat,we are paralized to do anything against pakisthan.Secondly support some Tough guys like Modi who have guts to stop mini pakisthan from developing inside. If we master in these two things, we can consume Pakisthan anytime in our breakfast.

Kashmir integreat in India by Hindusthani on 16 Jan 2009

Kashmir dialogue should not excist bcause Kashmir is completly belongs to India. Even we should take back the Azad Kashmir(Porkisthan occupied azad kashmir). Are the English or USA will give their state to anyother country? Then why they look into India? I request congress-I should wake up verywell about this situation.
