In an interview to Russian Government daily Rossiskaya Gazeta, Russia’s federal anti-narcotics service director Viktor Ivanov said: “The gathered inputs testify that regional drug baron Dawood Ibrahim had provided his logistics network for preparing and carrying out the Mumbai terror attacks.”
Moscow, which has been sharing intelligence with New Delhi, believes that Dawood’s drug network, which runs through Afghanistan, was used to finance the attacks. Ivanov said the Mumbai attacks were a “burning example” of how the illegal drug trafficking network was used for carrying out terror activities.
“The super profits of the narco-mafia through Afghan heroin trafficking have become a powerful source of financing organised crime and terrorist networks, destabilising the political systems, including in Central Asia and Caucasus,” Ivanov said.
Ivanov’s statement came as India and Russia held their fifth meeting of the joint working group on combating international terrorism on Wednesday, where both sides unequivocally condemned terrorism in all its forms. The two countries underlined their shared concerns on the growing threat of cross-border terrorism and reaffirmed their commitment for strengthening bilateral cooperation against terrorism.
While the Indian delegation was led by Vivek Katju, Special Secretary in the MEA, the Russian delegation was led by Anatoly Safonov, Special Representative of the President.
The two sides noted that curbing financing of terrorism is a key component of the counter-terrorism strategy and agreed to strengthen bilateral interaction in this field.

There is gang war among Maharastra state police and honest officers were demoralized. Non corrupt and competent officers were marginalized. Corrupt ones like Anomy Roy and Hasan Ghafoor are promoted. These two police officers did not act on the intelligence about the 26/11 terror strike. They did not lead from the front the force in repulsing the terrorists. Anomy Roy was busy in his cabin giving interview to TV news channels when Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte and Vijay Salaskar were being killed. Hasan Ghafoor went three hours later to the spots where terrorists struck. Gafoor did not sanitize Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and got by chance 8 kg RDX after five days.
This is a very sad news and even sad to know a mafia's network resulted in killing of several innocent lives. Hope this situation is brought in control soon.

Well, I would like to know what the US, UK, Russia, China, France, Australia and Germany would have done if many victims were their own people instead of Indians?Would they still only do routine lip service and sit quiet? The whole International community is now aware of the perpetrators behind the Mumbai attack. What is the use of these countries just giving a Press conference and keepng quiet. The International community should rise up to the occasion to pressurise UN Security Council to take firm action against Pakistan, who have given refuge to the terrorists and unable to take meaningful steps to co-operate with India, in the matter of Mumbai terror attacks. Everyday Pakistan comes out with different statements and not showing any sincerity to nab the terrorists and destroy their outfits. It is high time for UN Security Council to directly take action against Pakistan.

The recent statement by Russian officials confirm the involvement of Dawood Ibrahim in the Bombay attack.HE WAS involved in the 1993 blasts also.So without getting him to trial there is no point in having dialogues with Pakistan. India should have no relations if the Pakistan does not surrender all the terrorists involved.Demanding of proof etc is an exercise to subvert the issue.

When Money talks no one listens.Do you think it is hard for either India or Pakistan to Nab Dawoood Bhai.If Indian politicians want to clean up issues it can be done in less than 24 hours. But after cleansing, then what?They will be bored, they will be out of job. The people are also happy with this.Unless until something big like 11/26 happens everyone is busy with work, cricket and other things. Dawood was the person who according to former BJP CM of Dehli, Madan Lal Khurana, has links with Afvani and Sushma Swaraj.BJP was very quick to take Madan back to its fold after his remarks to the media. Madan Lal Khurana even sent a letter in this regard to the Indian PM Manmohan Singh. Advani's role in Hawala seem to be telling the fact, that something is very much rotten. Advani has been flip floping for a longer period of time, because while in India he is a staunch Hindu, but while in Pakistan, he loves the man who divided India and called him secular.It is very possible to say that if Advani comes to power then Dawood Ibrahim will run India.
