Ludhiana, July 06 Winners of the Dosti Cup bowled over by the hospitality shown towards them by the Indian side

While Indian deaf cricket team lost the last match and the series to Pakistan today in the three T-20 match series, Pakistani team and other members of the squad were bowled over with hospitality shown towards them by the Indian side. However, there is something that the Pakistani team and other members did not like.

The Pakistani members who were joyous over their victory in the series, felt that the Indian deaf cricket should also be recognised by the Board for Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Dr Tanvir Ahmed, physiotherapist of the team appointed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), complained about the step-motherly attitude adopted by the BCCI for Indian deaf cricket team. “We are recognised by the PCB and we get all the benefits. The tournaments are also organised and financially supported by PCB. But I feel sad for the Indian team here. The BCCI, being the richest cricket board, should recognise and adopt the Indian deaf cricket team too.”

He added that he loved to nurse the Indian players too during the series but, “I would like that they also have a professional physiotherapist to take care of them as a lot of injuries keep happening on the field.”

He remarked that the BCCI should take the responsibility to provide them facilities and help them train better. “Tomorrow, they may even get national players from the deaf team also. Though the players cannot hear or speak but they can bat and bowl very well. And I think cricket does not require what they lack, but it requires what they possess, that is talent.”

Happy Passi, who is the interpreter for the Punjab Deaf Cricket Federation, said, “The players need some facilities and encouragement from BCCI, and it is possible that we have a national player from among them.” Anjan Bhattacharjee, deaf and dumb, also proved his worth and played at the national level. “ Happy’s father Paddam Passi, president of the federation, who founded the federation a few years ago and who is himself deaf and dumb, said that they had written many a time to the BCCI, but had not received any response so far.
