Jalandhar, February 27 Notwithstanding the claim of the Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar, that it would declare the results of various courses run by it within 45 days of holding examination, late declaration of results in a norm rather than exception at the university which is causing hardships to the students.

As per the academic rules of the PTU, the result of any examination held by PTU under any branch should be declared within 40 to 45 days time. But students waiting for their result even months after taking examination is not an unfamilliar sight.

As if this was not enough, the students are made to wait for months — sometime up to a year — for their detail marks lists and other certificates after the results are declared.

The latest to suffer are the students of Bachelor of Pharmacy who had appeared in their seventh semester examinations in December with their last exam having been held on December 22 last year. Despite the fact that over two months have passed since, the result has not been declared by PTU authorities.

It is ditto for re-appear examinations for the same course which had ended on January 10.

The harried students of the final semester from Rayat Institute of Pharmacy in Nawanshahr have been making rounds of the PTU to obtain their results but without any success.

A student from a Jalandhar college said that he had to apply for higher education but for that he needed the result of his eighth semester. “All my requests for the result have fallen on deaf ears of the PTU authorities even as the deadline for applying for the next class is drawing nearer,’’ he lamented.

Another student who had appeared in the re-appear examination said that delay in result may rob him of the job he was hopeful of landing.

When contacted, Dean Academic, PTU, V.K. Arora said that as per the university rules, the result of any examination should be decalred within 30 to 40 days’ time.

He expressed ignorance about harassment being caused to B.Pharma students on this count and said that he would look into the matter.
