Ambala, January 21 Special CBI Judge RK Saini today deferred the date of hearing in the case of Sacha Sauda Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim facing murder and rape allegations to February 2. The dera chief was present in the court and the judge heard the case this afternoon.

The case was adjourned to next date on the request of Dera chief new counsel Surya Prakash who had sought time to study the case since he was engaged in place of the previous lawyer SK Garg.

The CBI Judge accepting the request of the new counsel fixed February 2 as next date for hearing arguments for framing charges in the case.

The Dera chief, thereafter, went to the HUDA Colony, Sector 8 Grounds where thousands of his devotees had been camping for the last night. He addressed them for a few minutes and left for his Sirsa dera alongwith large number of vehicles of his followers accompanying him besides commandos provided to him under Z Plus security

Since the dera chief had received threat from militants, the district administration had made elaborate security arrangements by deploying more than 600 police officials including the officers around the court complex and the route leading to the place of his stay. The police had sounded general alert in the town following reports from the intelligence agencies.
