Devotion to politics led to my divorce: Imran Khan

London Former Pakistan cricket captain, Imran Khan has blamed his devotion to politics for the breakdown of his marriage with his British wife, Jemima.

Cricketer turned politician Khan said that his marital life with Jemima suffered because of his devotion to politics.

Khan, in an interview with the ‘Times online’ said: “I always assumed that my wife fell in love with me because of my passions and ambitions. I was never going to be a 9 to 5 job kind of guy. I was never interested in money. I was always an idealist, a dreamer who believed in things that others thought were impossible.”

Talking about his cross-cultural marriage, he admitted that it was difficult for Jemima to adopt Pakistani culture and society.

“Cross-cultural marriages are always more difficult. In the Western countries, marriages are difficult. All my friends have got divorced, some of them twice,” Khan said.

On his alleged affairs with several women during his cricketing days, Khan said he enjoyed his image of a ‘playboy’.

“Everything is part of the evolutionary process. I have no regrets – I was never decadent. Decadent people have no passion in life, they are hedonists. I played international cricket for 21 years, longer than anyone else. I was extremely disciplined,” he added.

On plans of a probable remarriage, Khan said that he did not want to do it again.

“It’s certainly not on the radar, these are turbulent times in Pakistan, I do not want to put any woman at risk,” he concluded.

What is our right to judge? by Yousuf Kamran Khamisani on 23 Sep 2009

The guy has done the impossible at times and to him this word does not exist. So there is always a price for everything and he had to pay a price of his family for this fight for justice. If we can't be brave enough like him then what is our right to judge? There are very few people in this world who would dare go against the norm to achieve the max and he is the one of them. Keep everything aside and just see hospital. Let us respect these people if we can not be like them.

imran khan by yasir rahim on 09 Apr 2009

plzzzzzzz. its devotion to women not politics. he knows nothing about politics except repeating other peoples policies. he has to be brainy but has no brains at all. his party is full of Gay people who keep doing activities. he has not forgotten saalis kothas mujras. he was a dirt racket and will remain one. he can only play with married girls and women so now others are playing with his exwife. who knows as Debonik said whether the two boys r his or someone elses.

Imran the coward by Ashit on 08 Mar 2009

OK Imran. Dream on. Jemina has made it clear that she married Imran because of his fame. Translation- he was a trophy husband. She never adapted to the retrogressive culture that took her back to the dark ages. The 9/11 attack in US did it. She finally realised what her freinds and family had been advising her all along- to get out. She finally grew up and did what a sane educated woman with options would do. Imran thinks he is some statesman. He is afraid of the Taliban and the mullahs as his 'passion' in politics shows!!!
