Chandigarh, January 3 Officials of Greater Mohali Development Authority, SAS Nagar and the Punjab Police today raided a tea-vend-cum-dhaba, which was running from a residential plot in Sector 69, Mohali, and demolished it. The dhaba, run by a Dharam Pal, was not only an eyesore in the area, but was also causing numerous problems for the area residents.

According to information, GMADA acted in response to numerous applications filed by area residents, appealing to the Chief Administrator, GMADA, to weed out the menace from the area.

Certain residents of the area informed Newsline that the dhaba was being run in violation of the norms and the dhaba owner Dharam Pal was even using commercial LPG cylinders for cooking purposes at the dhaba.

Rresidents alleged that a group of about a dozen people, headed by Dharam Pal, were not only carrying out their business from a residential plot illegally, but also indulging in electricity theft, as they were diverting electricity from a streetlight by using a ‘kundi’ connection.
