Dharna on PU campus continues for second day

Chandigarh, March 20 On the second day of the dharna over the central university status demand for PU, a large number of students and teachers gathered today in front of the vice-chancellor’s office and lodged a strong protest against the silence of the state government over the issue.

Prof Manjit Singh underlined the severe financial crunch Panjab University is undergoing presently. He rued that the Ministry of Human Resource Development, by not accepting the offer of 100 per cent grant to P U, is letting down this premier institute of India that has produced millions of scholars, statesmen and scientists. The president of Akali Dal and the PM are two among the illustrious alumni of PU.
