Ludhiana, January13 A number of shopkeepers today held a dharna outside the Sherpur police post, alleging police inaction in a fight between two groups.

The dharna lasted for about two hours and ended following an assurance to the protesters by the area DSP.

The protesters, who were led by a shopkeeper, Rama Shanker, who runs a shop in the Baba Deep Singh Nagar in Sherpur, claimed that last night there was a fight between two groups in their area. Shanker claimed that he and his supporters were beaten up by the rival group.

He alleged that the police favoured the opposite party. The protestors even demanded that the Sherpur police post in-charge Dalip Kumar Bedi should be suspended.

Later the Industrial Area DSP Harmohan Singh and the Focal Point SHO Gurdev Singh reached the spot.
