Chandigarh, October 7: Former India cricketer Manoj Prabhakar said that MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh had failed to prove their talent as Test cricketers.

"Dhoni has not been able to prove himself as a Test cricketer. Besides, concentration is lacking in Yuvraj. There is some fault in his technique somewhere. He appears over confident," the former all-rounder said on the sidelines of a workshop on latest technique of skin and hair care treatment, organised by his firm 'Naturence Research Laboratory (p) Ltd'.

"One needs to be good enough to play in Test cricket," he said speaking on the performance of Dhoni and Yuvraj at ODIs, Twenty20 and Test matches.

Opposing Twenty20 cricket, he said that ‘it is very good entertainment, but not the real cricket.’

"It (T20) is even adversely affecting ODI cricket," he added.

On Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar's inclusion in the Test squad against the Aussies, Prabhakar appreciated Chief Selector K Srikkanth in giving them the ‘opportunity’.

"These players have done more than enough to the game. They have given their best to cricket. They should themselves decide when to say goodbye to the game," he said.

Prabhakar, however, said that former cricketers should stay connected to the game and help shape the future of upcoming youngsters.

He said that a player could perform even at the age of 36 provided he is fit.

About the present bowling attack of the Indian team, he said there was a ‘very healthy competition’ among the pacers, but the side lacked a second line of bowlers in the spin department after Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh.

On Harbhajan and S Sreesanth's participation in a TV dance show, Prabhakar said there was nothing wrong in it provided they keep it in mind that their focus should be on cricket.

Prabhakar said that he was ready to give anything for cricket even now. "If given a chance I can perform any where. I am available to share my cricket at any league or any level," he said.

Dhoni not a real test player by TKN Prasad on 15 Oct 2008

Ya, I am totaly in support of your opinion regarding Dhoni, I dont expect even by the time he retire from criket he can become a reliable or quality test cricket player. It may be because he got fame wealth and captaincy with out much struggle and luck also favoured him a lot.

i think Mr. Prabhakar said the right thing about dhoni and yuraj

Manoj is wrong about Dhoni by Prathap Chithapuram on 08 Oct 2008

While Manoj Prabhakar is wrong about Dhoni, he is right about Yuvraj. Until Yuvraj concentrates on cricket rather partying, drinking and dating, his cricket is going to suffer. Even though Dhoni has not be succesful in Test cricket, his possible replacements Karthik, Partiv and others did not do better than Dhoni when given the chance. Under those conditions I would like to know from Manoj, who should be the Indian team wicketkeeper, if not Dhoni.
