Dhumal gets rousing welcome in Kangra

Dharamshala, January 10 Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal was accorded a rousing welcome by the people en route to Dharamshala at various places in Kangra district, including Bharoli, Jwalamukhi, Ranital, Kangra Gagal and Dharamshala. He arrived here along with his ministerial colleagues and legislators for the Assembly session that begins here tomorrow. The Chief Minister was received by Ramesh Dhawala, Food and Civil Supplies Minister, on the entry point of Kangra district.

The Chief Minister said his government would come up with a suitable policy to encourage self-employment and employment avenues in the farming sector. Dhumal was addressing a reception organised in his honour in Jwalamukhi.

The CM said his government was concerned about the prevailing unemployment problem among the educated youth and would endeavour to explore the possibilities of generating employment and self-employment avenues in the farming sector. He said diversified agricultural activities, including cultivation of off-season vegetables, cash crops and high-yielding varieties of various farm produce, could be one of the solutions to solve the unemployment problem in rural areas to some extent.

He said social security pension of aged, widows, lepers and physically handicapped had been enhanced for all the 2,37,250 beneficiaries.
