One of Rajni’s friends secures a pre-seat for his daughter at Ryan International School, paying up the mandatory admission fees at the school. But here’s the catch: on the same day, the same friend also attends an interaction at DPS. In the nursery name game, DPS fares higher than Ryan. So if successful at the former, the friend will definitely re-enroll his child. There’s a phrase for this move in the nursery blogosphere: blocking a seat. But it’s a tactic Rajni questions. “I see the point; it would be worse not to have a seat at all, though it’s wrong also, many parents are left nowhere.”
This is where schools’ second and third lists come into play; by March, when parents are finished chopping and changing, settling their children into coveted seats, a few vacant pre-school seats may just turn up.
