Bhopal Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday said there was absolutely no truth in media reports saying that he had made up his mind to resign as party in-charge of poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.

“I just do not know from where and how the media manages to get such totally baseless and false stories about me,” Singh said.

He said it would be really unwise of him to resign as the in-charge of Uttar Pradesh particularly at a time when the state was in the midst of an election campaign.

Two TV channels had yesterday carried news items saying that Singh has decided to quit as the UP in-charge.

Asked to comment on the prospects of former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti who is contesting the Assembly polls from Uttar Pradesh, the senior Congress leader said, “We do not have to do anything. The UP BJP will itself ensure that Bharti does not win.”
