Dinner, dance to rule the eve of 2008, city on toes

Ludhiana, December 30 As the countdown for the New Year has started, residents in the city are planning to celebrate the eve in hotels and restaurants. City hotels, restaurants and discotheques too have prepared new menus and entertainment shows on the occasion.

Park Plaza has arranged Bombay-based DJ Avnish for the party. Rajinder Kaur, from the membership department of Park Plaza, said the celebrations will be at Darbar Hall on December 31. “We have booked the hall for 175 couples and Rs 7,300 will be charged from each couple”. The plaza also has exotic belle dancers to set the night on fire. Wildshot, another city restaurant on Pakhowal Road, has also planned a couples night. Rinku Kahlon, owner of Wildshot, said, “We are charging Rs 1,800 from each couple. We have our permanent DJ for dance party. We will allow more than one female with a couple but not more than one male.”

At hotel Fortune Klassik, it is the Mann brothers who are going to entertain the people through Night of Fortune, a special programme on the occasion. Both, Gursewak Mann and Harbhajan Mann, will regale the audience through Punjabi numbers and dances.

Meanwhile, city clubs are also busy in the New Year celebrations. Sanjay Arora, honorary secretary of the Sutlej Club, said, “This time we are holding the function at Whistling Wuds Resort, Ferozepur Road. We have decided the venue while keeping in view the demand of our members who want to enjoy the function after 10 pm.”

Sukhbir, a Punjabi pop singer along with his dance troupe, will enthrall t audience at the club. “It will be followed by DJ along with Reema Dass, an item girl. While Kapil Sharma, a comedian, will entertain the audience.”

The PVR cinema at Flamez Mall has decided to hand over year gifts to children. Tejinder Singh, manager of PVR Cinema, said, “From December 28 to January 2, we have started giving gifts to children who come to watch the movie Hanuman Returns. We are giving them special gifts like crown of Hanuman, geometry box having photo of Hanuman. While the children who come to watch Taare Zameen Par are being given face masks like Aamir Khana and Darshil who played the role of Ishaan in the film. On January 1 we will hold a draw along with Kirtilal Jewellers. The first winner will get diamond ring of cost of Rs 5,000 while remaining three awards will be of gold pendants.”

There are some who have decided to celebrate the eve in the company of their friends. “We are a group of ten friends and have decided to celebrate the eve while chatting and dining together at a peaceful place,” said Aman Sood and Gurvinder Kakkar.
