Shimla, July 01 The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to come out with a state disability policy within two months. Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Sarveen Chaudhary today announced this while speaking at a workshop of school children on disability rights, organised by the Society for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies (SDRS).

Goa is the first state to have a disability policy after the directions of Maharashtra High Court and Himachal would be the next to implement a policy which is mandatory for all states under the Persons With Disability Act (PWD Act).

The government is also contemplating giving one hour extra time for disabled students (specifically visually challenged) for attempting exams, said Principal Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment, R.K. Jain.
