New Delhi, February 12 Ever Wondered how you or your family could be safe when man-made or natural disasters strike?

Head for the three-day international security exhibition at Pragati Maidan from February 17 to find out.

And the highlight of the exhibition will be dosimeters and multi-gas detectors—gadgets to fight nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) attacks—on display for the first time.

Around 95 companies, including those from Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Singapore and Switzerland, will take part in the exhibition being organised by CISF, IISSM (International Institute of Security and Safety Management) and ITPO (India Trade Promotion Organisation).

Gadgets like hydraulic spreaders, inflatable lighting towers, portable shelter, driving suits and NBC suits will be on display at the exhibition, which will be inaugurated by Home Minister Shivraj Patil.

“For the first time, we are having equipment related to disaster management for display at the exhibition,” said CISF Director General, RK Das.

“The security equipment industry in the country has a market of over $50 million per annum and is growing at 35 per cent. The exhibition will serve as a common platform for the industry,” said R K Chopra, ITPO Deputy General Manager.

Perimeter protection devices like power fence, taut wire, vibration sensors and fibre-optic barriers will be other highlights at the exhibition which is expected to draw over 1,500 business delegates from within and outside India.

The delegates include those from Commonwealth Games Secretariat, Delhi Metro, Railway Board, National Thermal Power Corporation, SBI and several multi-national companies. The exhibition is expected to draw companies, which deal with CCTV networks, spy cams and debugging devices and jammers.

Targeting the police as a customer, the exhibition will have some companies displaying automated fingerprint processing systems and explosive testing and chemical kits.

With aviation security generating considerable amount of interest in recent times as airports are increasingly becoming soft targets, visitors can expect new and sophisticated baggage screening gadgets and liquid explosive detectors, organisers said.
