Disease surveillance scheme to get funding, tools soon

Chandigarh, February 21 Union Health and Family Welfare Secretary Naresh Dyal today assured the Haryana Commissioner and Secretary, Health, Navraj Sandhu that for effective implementation of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) in the state, a budget would soon be released and necessary equipment would also be provided. Naresh Dyal was interacting with Navraj Sandhu through video conferencing. In Delhi, a call centre has been made functional under the IDSP to work round-the-clock through National Informatics Centre as a supplemental tool to detect outbreak of diseases. A toll-free number (1075) has been assigned to the call centre to collect information on outbreaks, if any, of diseases. During the video conferencing, various aspects regarding IDSP were discussed such as early detection of outbreaks, strengthening the disease surveillance, data analysis and role of rapid response team. Sandhu also apprised the Health Secretary about the shortcomings in the health facilities.
