New Delhi, March 26: Stung by Congress tirade against its senior leader L K Advani, BJP on Wednesday raked up insurgency in Punjab and North-East, terrorism in Kashmir and the LTTE issues in a bid to push the ruling party to the backfoot.

Hitting back at Congress, the main Opposition party said it has no "moral right" to speak on terrorism and criticize the BJP as it had always "supported and encouraged" terrorism with an eye on vote bank.

Senior leaders Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitley also found nothing wrong in Advani visiting Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi as they noted that both the parties should respect each other since they were not enemies but political rivals.

"Who created Bhindranwale, who sponsored him, who is responsible for his activities, who sent Army into Golden Temple?" Naidu asked in an attempt to turn the tables on the Congress.

He held the policies of the Congress responsible for outbreak of terrorism in Kashmir and accused it of encouraging insurgent outfits - ULFA in Assam, LTTE in Sri Lanka, SIMI and Al-Umma.

"Who gave training and funds to LTTE? Who sent IPKF to Sri Lanka resulting in the death of 1000 personnel not for the country? Who is responsible for ULFA and then SULFA. Who is responsible for growth of naxalism? Who joined hands with them at the political level," he sought to know.

He warned the Congress not to point accusing fingers at the BJP, saying such tactics will "boomerang" on the party and push it to the backfoot.

"The Congress has no moral right to speak on terrorism and criticise the BJP," Naidu told reporters.

His comments came in response to Congress attacks on Advani for his remarks that he was not aware that former External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh was accompanying terrorists to Kandahar till it happened.

Referring to a Kerala Assembly resolution seeking the release of Abdul Nasser Madhani when his trial was on in the Coimbatore blast case, he alleged that Congress has supported outfits like Al-Umma, SIMI, Laskhar-e-Toiba and Deendar Anjuman.

"Don't dare to criticise the BJP. Everything will come out in the open. It will boomerang on you and you will be pushed to the backfoot," he said.

Reacting to the ruling party's criticism that Advani's meeting with Gandhi was a "gimmick", he said, "whatever is done they feel it is a gimmick because that is what they have been doing all these years".

There is nothing wrong in the Leader of the Opposition meeting the Chairperson of the ruling alliance as he was following only a tradition, he said.

"Advani himself has been talking about untouchability in politics.... After all we should respect each other. We are not enemies, but political rivals," he added.

Jaitley said Advani showed grace in meeting Gandhi to wish her on the occasion of Holi, but the Congress is exhibiting lack of grace.

Don't critize Advani.... by A.A.Choudhari on 27 Mar 2008

Really, the history of Congressites after independence is so dark full of blemishes that in any other country, such a party would not ever have survived. But in our country, with slavish mentality of succumbing to the divide and rule so skilfully adopted by the Congress we are reaping the deadly fruits. In any other country, the party belonging to the majority community and looking after the interests,of majority community would only have found place for governance. But the Congressites with utter lies, imbibed insecurity in the minor communities to such an extent that they never ever believed the all accommodative Hindu population, and through misguiding, all the populace stuck to power by hook or by crook. They have not spared any anti-Gandhian thought and policy to any how rule this country. Everyone is fed up with the existing ruling UPA combination, and the earlier it is made to vacate power, better it would be for one and all.

BJP should be projecting its ability. Do not supress a meaningful debate. We need to know the truth. by Anand Babu on 27 Mar 2008

As a political party aspiring to take office after the next election, you have to show to the nation how capable you are. You have to take crticism positively and reason to the nation for your past actions. Your mistakes will not be neutralized by the other guys mistakes. Mistake is a mistake who ever does it. As a citizen I want to know whether you learned from the mistakes or not? We are fed up with Congress misrule for the last 50 years and the present opportunistic concoction called UPA. But will you give me a better option? We do not want many cooks to spoil the broth. We did not want the Indian Airlines plane to be left out of India in the first place, not to speak of the Khadahar after effects. It was a national shame. Can BJP ensure it will not be repeated?

role of BJP by venugopal on 27 Mar 2008

If BJP is to fulfill its role it should stop reacting and start acting to keep the Congress and the Communists on the back foot.

Role of BJP by Manoj Unnikrishnan on 27 Mar 2008

Mr.Venugopal is right that BJP is always on a reactive mode. This is because they don't have any vision for the future and only just greed to come back to power. But after getting power, they will squander away 5 years without doing anything for strenghtening the country or the Hindu religion. For example they have not relinquished government control of temples in the states where they are ruling. They also did nothing when the Kanchi Sankaracharya was harassed by TN Govt. They are doing nothing to prevent Govt from breaking the historic sethu bridge. In short they are a bunch of brain dead old men only interested in some glory before they die off. You cannot compare them against the missionary zeal shown by Sonia Maino or Communist -Naxal combines who are out to dismember India.

Fatwa: Muslim are not allowed to vote for Congress by almighty Allah: by Md. Ali Hasan Bukhari on 27 Mar 2008

The consensus of the Islamic scholars is that it is not permissible for a woman to be the head of a state or to hold a position of top leadership. This is what stated in the Book of Allah (interpretation of the meaning): “Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has made one of them to excel the other” [al-Nisa’ 4:34] The general applicability of this aayah indicates that the position of qiwaamah (being a protector and maintainer) belongs to men in relation to women. As a woman does not have authority over her husband in the home, it is more appropriate that she should not have authority over any other men. Since Congress is headed by Sonia, any vote to Congress is haraam for muslims. Muslims are allowed to vote for Muslim league and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimen only.
