Nasik, February 16: Maharashtra government would take strict action against those found guilty of indulging in violence during the recent protest against the arrest of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray.

After inaugurating 2nd All India OBC Literary meet at Kalidas Kala Mandir on Saturday afternoon, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh urged them not to leave the state and continue with their work.

He also assured North Indians that the government will provide security to them.

When asked about any adverse effects on industrial activities in the state after the exodus of North Indians, Deshmukh said it will not have any effect, adding, they will return soon after the situation becomes peaceful and under control.

About the loss to industries and extensive damage to public property after the arrest of the MNS leader, the Chief Minister said local administration is taking stock of such losses or damage and government will take a decision on the issue on the basis of the report submitted.

And talking about the true marathas. Today on the 19th of February Shiv Jayanti for the rally of Muncipal corporation RALLy in honour of SHIVAJI MAHARAJ. Not a single MARATHA was there. NO MNS ppl were there. And Many of my UP natives were there including my mom. When at the age o16 i can understand this. Why can't others?????

India by PSW on 18 Feb 2008

We are definitely one nation state. If you count the number of years we have remained as one, it will exceed that of any other nation state (Even US has been like that for little over 200 years or so). In fact we are the world's original and only genuine nation state with universal set of family values and vedic traditions which have remained unbroken for at least 5000 years despite being not a single entity at times.Any way in this era of globalisation ( like you are sitting in US and taken away the job of a native), would you suggest people of Vidharbha stay there in their village and of Aurangabad stay there and work and not migrate if needed

rah Thackeray by SWARN SHARMA on 17 Feb 2008

One must abide by the basic principles of Constitution. But its intricacies keep changing. Don't we amend the Constitution?" Thackeray said. As above stated by Thackeray IS he respecting the law of the land. NO NO NO? He should be ashamed on his statement. Law of the land says such people look good behind bar and RAJ should be there.

Regionalism by Rajesh Pandey on 17 Feb 2008

dear Country men,we are not cowards to run like loose cattles.Regionalism is a cancer that is spreading fast in entire world. People should appreciate others hard work, labour, skill intellect. They should not create monopoly vis a vis their geographical location. I know its painful to see neighbhours child getting more attention in our house. Same is the regionalism concept. It is always that people who are not from favorable circumstances vis a vis their geographical location are seen to have more spark in life

Raj and Congress hidden agenda by raj shanit on 17 Feb 2008

Raj Thackeray wanted to gain prominence and limelight. After the major debacle in the civic polls where his party was a minnow, He wanted a major issue to boost his party's image preluding the upcoming lok sabha elections in 2009-10. By taking up the issue of Marathi Manoos loosing out the job opportunities to the north indians and then creating drama of going to the jail and getting bail immediately with the support of the Maharashtra Police and congress party he has already achieved what he aimed for. Now in future he will divide the Maratha vote bank for the congress and assist them to defeat the Shiv Sena - BJP combine in the next upcoming elections. The congress is now just doing damage control which Raj has done to help them in future elections. What Bal has done for Indira Ghandi's congress in 1969, Raj is doing for them now. If he really wanted to clean up the Mumbai from these bihari's and UPites then why has he not attacked the people who are mainly from Bangladesh and who are married to these Bhaiyyas and who are one of the biggest drain of the tax payers money and encroaching the footpaths and pavements in Mumbai. He is fully aware that these hutmen dewellers are the major vote bank of Congress. Why has he only attacked few Taxi drivers and Vegetable vendors. We need to properly think and ascertain the main motive behind this atrocious action of Raj Thackrey and his MNS goons.

PLAN AND ADOPT A STRATEGY TO ELIMINATE THESE MARATHI TERRORISTS ONCE AND FOR ALL by ANTI-FASCIST LEAGUE on 17 Feb 2008

THE STATE AND THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENTS MUST ADOPT A STRATEGY TO SUPPRESS AND FINISH OFF BAL THACKERAY, UDDHAV THACKERAY AND RAJ THACKERAY ONCE AND FOR ALL, OTHERWISE CONSIDER MUMBAI AND MAHARASHTRA DOOMED ECONOMICALLY AS ALL MAJOR BUSINESSES AND INVESTORS WILL CONSIDER MASS EXODUS FROM MUMBAI AND MAHARASHTRA LEAVING THE STATE GOVERNMENT WITH A MASSIVE HEADACHES OF MASSIVE UNEMPLOYMENT AND STARVATION. WILL BAL THACKERAY, UDDHAV THACKERAY OR RAJ THACKERAY BE ABLE TO PROVIDE FOOD TO THE STARVING MILLIONS IF ALL THE INVESTMENTS WERE TO BE OUTSIDE MUMBAI AND MAHARASHTRA? ON THAT SCORE THINK OF THE MILLIONS OF TEXTILE MILL WORKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN, MOST OF WHOM WERE MARATHIS, WHO WERE LEFT STARVING BY THE PERMANENT CLOSURES OF TEXTILE MILLS IN MUMBAI? WHAT DID BAL THACKERAY, UDDHAV THACKERAY OR RAJ THACKERAY DO TO HELP THEM? INSTEAD OF HELPING THE WORKERS, THEY CONNIVED WITH ALL THE ANTI-WORKERS' FORCES. I PERSONALLY KNOW OF A NUMBER OF CASES OF DEATHS BY STARVATION AMONG THESE UNEMPLOYED TEXTILE WORKERS AND LOT OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN WERE AMONG THE DEAD. CAN ALL THE MARATHAS AT THE HELM IN THE STATE ASSEMBLIES AND IN LEADERSHIP POSITIONS ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN? SO SIT DOWN, PLAN AND ADOPT A STRATEGY TO ELIMINATE THESE GOONDA FORCES AND MARATHI TERRORISTS ONCE AND FOR ALL OR YOU WILL ALL REGRET MASSIVELY IN FUTURE IF YOU DO NOT DO SOMETHING NOW.

Marathis stop social apartheid against Hindus, we are all Hindus.do not loose sight of this fact. by Sanat on 17 Feb 2008

Marathis are Hindus.North Indians are Hindus and India is Hindusthan, therefore there will be no legal segregation or social apartheid. SUCH OPEN DISCRIMINATION AGAINST OTHER HINDUS MUST BE CONDEMNED AND CANNOT BE ACCEPTED. We the VHP of France, who have massive investments and created thousands of Jobs, will not allow apartheid against HINDUS to succeed. So all concerned start to act responsibly and cut out this nonsence, for once and for all.

FREQUENT TROUBLES IN MUMBAI AND MAHARASHTRA ARE DOING IMMENSE HARM TO THE CITY, STATE AND THE NATION'S ECONOMY: LET THOSE CONTROLLING THE ECONOMY DICTATE TERMS OR THREATEN TO QUIT IF THE GOONDAGIRI CONTINUES by SUBHASH SAMPAT on 17 Feb 2008

Mumbai contributes billions and billions of rupees from its taxes to the rest of the country. Although Mumbai receives an average per capita share of public expenditure from central government this is perhaps far outweighed by its very high tax bill. Mumbai’s population would welcome some commitment by the State and Central Governments to increased public spending on essential public services and infrastructure to cope with the growing demand. However it should also be pointed out that Mumbai gives more to the Centre and State Exchequer than it actually receives - Mumbai continues to make a positive economic contribution to other regions but does not receive an equal amount back for its infrastructure development. If our metropolitan city is to continue to contribute such large sums of money it requires more investment in its infrastructure and public services. There are hopes that a number of vital transport projects will go ahead and the populace of this metropolis look forward to continuing discussions among the State and Central Governments regarding the funding for these projects. Unless we can find a solution to the problems created by people like Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray, Mumbai’s economy remains at risk by their frequent calls for bandhs and hartals forcing businesses and shops to close and people to remain indoors instead of going about their daily economic activities.

THE STATE AND CENTRAL GOVERNMENTS MUST NOT ALLOW THE FEW TO HARM THE LIVES OF MILLIONS by SUBHASH SAMPAT on 17 Feb 2008

Mumbai serves as an important economic hub of the country, contributing 10% of all factory employment, 40% of all income tax collections, 60% of all customs duty collections, 20% of all central excise tax collections, 40% of India's foreign trade and 40 billion Rupees (US$ 9 billion) in corporate taxes. Mumbai's per-capita income is Rs.48,954 which is almost three times the national average. Many of India's numerous conglomerates (including State Bank Of India, Tata Group, Godrej and Reliance)and four of the Fortune Global 500 companies are based in Mumbai. Many foreign banks and financial institutions also have branches in this area, the World Trade Centre (Mumbai)being the most prominent one. Up until the 1980s, Mumbai owed its prosperity largely to textile mills and the seaport but the local economy has since been diversified to include engineering, diamond-polishing, healthcare and information technology. Mumbai is home to the Bhabha Atomic Research Center and most of India's specialized, technical industries, having a modern industrial infrastructure and vast, skilled human resources. Rising venture capital firms, start-ups and established brands work in aerospace, optical engineering, medical research, computers and electronic equipment of all varieties, ship-building and salvaging and renewable energy and power.

LET US NOT DESTROY IN MINUTES, HOURS AND DAYS WHAT OUR PIONEERS HAVE TAKEN YEARS TO BUILD by SUBHASH SAMPAT on 17 Feb 2008

Mumbai is one of the world's top 10 centres of commerce in terms of global financial flow. Mumbai is also the commercial and entertainment capital of India, contributing 25% of industrial output, 40% of maritime trade and 70% of capital transactions to India's economy. The city houses important financial institutions, such as the Reserve Bank of India, the Bombay Stock Exchange, the National Stock Exchange of India and the corporate headquarters of many Indian companies and numerous multinational corporations. The city is home to Bollywood, the largest film producer in the world. Mumbai attracts migrants from all over India because of the immense employment opportunities and the relatively high standard of living. The Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) also runs oil operations at Bombay High, an offshore oilfield located 160 km off the coast of Mumbai. The Bombay High supplies 14% of India's oil requirement and accounts for about 38% of all domestic production. The Knowledge City set up by the Reliance Communications is the largest economy campus in India, located at Navi Mumbai in Mumbai. Mumbai's status as the state capital means that state and central government employees make up a large percentage of the city's workforce. Mumbai also has a large unskilled and semi-skilled labour population. Can we allow all this progress that India's pioneers have made to build such a strong economy go to ruins because of the madness of a few?

Job;s for Maharashtrians by richard on 17 Feb 2008

The chief minister can do much for Maharashtra and Maharashtrians by doing something much more than this request. Let him tell the Maharashtrians as long as they are competative in job markets, no one will take their jobs away in Maharashtra. He has to make them aware that by driving business and industries away, they are lessening job opportunities for the youth of this state. Let him tell them no one will employ them if they keep on throwing stones and force the shop keepers to close their shops. No doubt they can become ministers in Raj's Raj if MNS comes to power but then, they will have to silence their voice to slavery in a democratic country. Jobs cannot be created if we return to stone age.
