Accusing Indian American groups of lobbying with Washington for putting pressure on Islamabad in the aftermath of the Mumbai attack, the Pakistani-American groups are telling the US that Islamabad has been a reliable ally in its war against terror.
Leaders of the newly formed Pakistan American National Alliance (PANA), at a press conference said Indian Americans were lobbying before the Congress and the Obama Administration asking them to exhort pressure on Pakistan for taking action against the terrorists involved in the Mumbai attack, and penalize Islamabad in case it fails to do so.
PANA, which includes six eminent Pakistani American organisations, announced its formation on the eve of some 150 Indian American leaders from various parts of the country converging in Washington to lobby before the Obama team and Congressmen to tell Pakistan to take action against the perpetrators of the Mumbai attack.
"As previous experience shows some of the terrorist acts by non-state actors are in fact complex, well planned and sophisticated as witnessed during the tragic events of 9/11 and embassy bombings in Africa. The perpetrators of 9/11 were Saudi and Egyptian citizens, but the US Government never suspected nor blamed the Saudi of Egyptian governments," the group said in a statement.
"Therefore the presumption that since a citizen of a certain country performs a certain act, therefore its government should be held responsible is erroneous," it said and urged the Obama administration to influence India for a joint Indo-Pak investigation of the Mumbai terrorist attack.
The Pakistani-Americans also announced they would hold day-long lobbying activities at the Capitol on February 18, after the US Congress resumes.
Asking the White House and the US Congress to cooperate with the government in Islamabad and provide massive economic aid to the country, Pakistani Americans demanded that Indian parties like Bharatiya Janata Party, Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangha, Shiv Sena and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad be declared terrorist outfits.
It also demanded appointment of a special mediator to resolve the Kashmir issue and urged the new administration not to give US visa to the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi.

Do you think America is listening to India. If it were we will be doing what Israel has done in Hamas. Also, these members of PANA should openly oppose terrorism. Where were they when 9/11 happened. I did not see them come out and condemn Osama. There may be some truth in the fact that the elements may be non state, in that case had them over to India. Why harbour such folks. I will reuest PANA to pressurise Pakistan governemnt to hand over Dawood and other terrorist to India.

You can see Pakistan is placed at a dismal 9 th position which means only 8 other countries (Somalia, Iraq, Chad, Sudan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Congo, Ivory Coast) are worse off than Pakistan, whereas INDIA is placed at a comfortable and enviable 98 th position. So guys let us stop worrying about Pakistan. They are allowing drone attacks on their soil and at the same time shamelessly accepting money as aid from US.
The PANA must try to put Pakistan's house in order, so they must lobby in Pak and not in US.They could, for a start , start by answering the following questions :1) Who or what (organization ) is in control in Pak?2) Who gave the ex - president Musharraf the right to comment on US bombings in Pak , now that he has retaired ?3) Why should the US NOT worrry about the safety of its citizens , who will feel unsecure as long as Ladan is arround?4)The argument that US assaults will destabalize Pak's DEMOCRATICALLY ellected govt. does not hold true because it is just a smoke screen for the activities of the ISI and a way of getting US funds. Why should the US tolerate or bother about the stability of such a civilian govt. in Pak. and NOT attack Pak targets to flush out Ladan and other terrorists on its soil?5) Why is Pak NOT worried about the presence of these terrorists in Pak?Is it because of the fact that no harm will be done to Pak?6) Has ISI been Talibanized?

These people have no shame whatsoever that is why they are begging USA to donate Pakistan. It is surprising that they are demanding Indian organizations to be declared terrorist organizations. These people have no time to look into their own country and are trying to look into the affairs of India. As to why Saudi and Egypt were not declared terrorist because those govt did not provide any support. It was Pak govt that provided support. Why the US planes are dropping missiles on Pakistani territory it is anybody's guess.
It is no doubt at last in the minds of Indians that Pakistan Govt and its agencies do indulge in terrorist activities directly or indirectly. But that does not mean that all Pakistanis are terrorists. It may be counterproductive to call all Pakistanis, in Pak or overseas as anti Indian or terrorists. Especially American Pakistanis have more affiliation for India as all they consider themselves as "DESIS". One can be patriotic and do everything possible to help once motherland nothing wrong in that. So I am amazed at the reaction by many of us at PANA. They may be wrong, they may be blinded by their love for their motherland, they may be over protective but certainly they are Desis no doubt about it. War can solve some problems but not all. One can conquer but one cannot win over at the point of Gun. We, India and Indians are far better than Pak and Pakistanis so let’s just ignore PANA It will be more productive to watch and deal with pro pak elements in India and Indian society.

Indian Americans have a right to come together and lobby for the Indian point of view, similarly Pak-American groups have the same right. American administration will however listen to those that suit American interests. That is where India scores way over Pakistan.India being a stable democracy with a large domestic market and many faceted economic ties to the US, it can potentially partner to lift the US economy from the present doldrums it is in.That is Obama administration's top priority. Pakistan on the other hand is at best a security headache to be contained, a proven nuclear proliferate and the only source for Islamic terrorists to get their hands on a nuclear device.That is Obama's biggest worry. PANA can lobby all they want,it may buy them some more time eventually US will have to confront Pakistan over their conduct sooner than later.

As usual, not a single positive point on the agenda of pro-Pakistani organizations. If Pakistan's government should not be held accountable for terrorist activities committed from its soil, then neither should it's government be asking for any foreign aid. Let's face it, pro-Pakistan groups want their country to have all the benefits of being treated as a global leader without any of the responsibilities that come along with it. And if these groups want to call India's democratically-elected political parties "terrorists", what should we call Pakistan's unelected dictators and tribal leaders? Instead of this defensive, negative campaigning why don't these groups redirect their anger towards the Pakistani government for failing to make any positive dent in the security situation? Or is that also India's fault?
