“The entire planning for campaigning is done, which is followed religiously. I have divided time between meeting residents of my ward and door-to-door campaigning. I am also noting down the total number of voters in each house I visit, so that I may be able to asses my overall performance later on,” said Seema Chaudhary, INLD candidate from Ward 24. She further added that she makes it sure to revisit the house from where she gets a lukewarm response.

She added, “From 8 am to 1 pm, I visit houses in my ward and evenings have been kept for meeting new people.”

While for Lily Bawa, an Independent candidate from Ward 20: “Close on the heels of the council elections, the last minute campaigning is no less than the final assault in the army. Though this is the fifth round of my ward, I plan to take several rounds before the D-day. From 7.30 am to 9 am, I personally meet people going all alone, while from 9 am to 1.30 pm, we move in a big group,” said Bawa.

Bawa has been into social work since long and has also the credit of providing free education to five children of the area who are below the poverty line.

As for VK Sood, a BJP candidate from ward 4, noiseless and simple door-to -door canvassing. “I am totally against the use of loudspeakers for the elections. So I follow the policy of simple and noiseless style of door-to-door campaigning by highlighting various issues,” said Sood.

‘Municipal Council elections true test of party’s popularity’
Panchkula: The upcoming Panchkula Municipal Council elections will be a true test of the popularity of political parties. This was stated by Abhay Chautala, senior leader of INLD, during a press conference held in the city today. He was in the city to support his various INLD candidates contesting for the MC elections.

“It is the fear of losing the elections that led deputy CM Chander Mohan and Union Minister of State for Poverty Alleviation Kumari Shelja to indulge in election campaigning. And one of the major reasons for their defeat would be the poor law and order situation in the state. Panchkula is one of the most affected areas with lack of water and electricity supply,” said Chautala.
