Kolkata, April 02 The ailing healthcare infrastructure of the industrial region of West Bengal finally got a ray of hope with the opening of the Missions Hospital, a super-specialty hospital, at Bidhan Nagar in Durgapur.

The 250-bed hospital started its operation today.

The hospital will provide all the facilities of a tertiary-level healthcare unit with cardio-vascular treatment and surgery; neuro surgery, joint replacement, mother and child care centre and a 24-hour trauma care centre.

Situated about 188 kms from Kolkata in Burdwan district, the hospital will cater to the districts and industrial areas of Asansol and Durgapur along with the adjacent areas of Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa.

“With an investment to the tune of Rs 70,000 crore lined up in the next three years and modern facilities like a private airport coming up, the Missions Hospital will be a major confidence booster in the area,” said Satyajit Bose, the Director of the hospital.

The private endeavour has taken 18 months to come up, involving a cost of about Rs 60 crore. Of this, about Rs 27 crore have been spent on modern equipments for the hospital.

A dream come true for a few doctors and locals, the hospital aims at developing the overall health infrastructure in the industrial zone of the state.
