EdServ forays into mobile application space

Chennai Education services company EdServ has forayed into the mobile application space by launching “HumThum.com” that can be accessed anywhere, anytime from a smartphone.

HumThum.com has been developed inhouse by EdServ which provides educational support services like doubt clearing, tutor search and assessments, career services and local area based services (for students) a company statement here said.

“With the rapid adoption of smartphones in India, especially among the student segment, we believe we have a clear first mover advantage with the launch of this first-of-its-kind Educational Mobile applications whereby we have moved our entire educational content to the mobile enabling students to access our educational services anytime, anywhere,” EdServ Chairman S Giridharan said.

Stating that the company has invested USD one million over the last two years on developing the application, Giridharan said the application would initially be available in Samsung smartphones and would later be extended to other phones.

“This service will be available in Samsung smartphones, but our objective is to offer this service in all mobile phones. We will also tie-up with mobile operators (for offering this service),” he said.

The Chennai-based company was aiming revenues of Rs 200 crore over the next three years from this initiative, he added.
